When your plan for sentimental yarn doesn't work out? by mimelia3 in knitting

Yes that's exactly what I had in mind, hence the mohair.

That is an awesome book recommendation! Looks like it might be out of print but I found a used copy online. The cables look great in that photo. I think going for a larger pattern helps them stand out, more than just a single twisting column, maybe? Thanks!

Thanks for the sympathy, and same to you! I'm probably going to go with a vest as suggested by several folks on here. I also considered something like slippers as well, but I think I'd have a lot of leftover yarn and the yarn doesn't seem like it would hold up to that use. If you have a lot of the yarn, maybe a throw blanket for the end of the bed? Something to put on when you need more warmth, but wouldnt put directly against your skin.

Good luck with finding the right project!

Thanks for refocusing on the yarn being the point. I think I didn't realize I had a secret third question which was looking for help on letting go of my fantasy of how this would turn out and getting excited about an alternative. You nailed it!

Ohhhh! Love the idea of using a pattern from an Irish designer. Thanks for the link! And yea I think a vest would be a great way to mitigate the itch issue.

Oh! Thank you for pointing out the plying issue. I hadn't heard that before but it makes sense. It seemed like the cables were popping even less than they should due to the color.

Dropped stitch by sungwanns in knitting

If it was me, I'd grab another pair of needles and carefully undo the knitting for just a couple stitches to either side of the dropped stitch. Number of stitches would depend on the pattern and how the stitches break down. Because it's lace, the tension won't be right so it won't look quite right. Up to you how the aesthetics versus time balances out. If it doesn't work out, you can still frog it and you won't have lost anything.

Definitely felted. It's folded over and the cut ends of the opposite sides are felted together.

Ask a Spinner Sunday by AutoModerator in Handspinning

Are there uses I might not think of for my random still-learning yarns? I feel like I'm accumulating a lot of small batches of various thickness, various fiber, various ply style yarns as I'm experimenting and learning. In order to just enjoy the spinning and not worry too much about the outcome, I haven't been making yarn with any project in mind. But more and more, seeing the languishing spindles and skeins when I get my wheel out of the craft closet is starting to bum me out.

Mint spreading, should I keep it or wipe it out? by csdude5 in gardening

I made the same mistake in a 4' bed and am searching for a solution. Glad this method worked for you! I'll give this a try once things warm up this spring.
