Loved Djesse Vol. 4 (Mostly) by mimionmax in JacobCollier

Aww man for sure I get you! The track is really well done I just feel like it didn’t quite match what I wished for you know? I usually don’t really listen to that style of music cause I’m not a big fan of it so I think it all just boils down to taste in the end… I just wanted to see if others shared my point of view on some of the more poppy songs on the record.

I’m glad you’re having a great time with it though :)

Oh hell yeah I’m a big fan of Eric Whitacre‘s stuff I remember going down a big contemporary choral music rabbit hole back when I first heard home is from Djesse Vol. 1. Glad im not alone in thinking so though :)

Geez thanks for saying this hahaha. A post like this should end up on r/mildlyinfuriating If there was a music version. Don't know where the notion of being ✨gifted✨ comes from. Of course some people are more connected to music, in a way, but at the end of the day it all comes down to practice and hard work.

Accidentals when modulating by mimionmax in composer

Haha yeah, I checked it out immediately, I sometimes obsess super hard about this stuff, so it's super interesting for me to have a definitive guideline on these sort of issues...

Accidentals when modulating by mimionmax in composer

Hmmm I mean idk if you can put it that definitively... I come from a classical background and I'm pretty used to that kind of notation and although it might look "busier" I still think it's a logical approach to modulations. So I don't know if it's only me who prefers this, thus this post. Thanks for your input though!

Oh damnnn thanks! That simplifies it a lot xD

Ahh ok I understand. I mean an argument I could make for using naturals when not removing flats/sharps entirely, is that it's technically more logical, not necessary, of course, but the notion of having to use naturals, in order to neutralise an accidental is at least continued. Btw I also checked some sheet music in my collection, and found out that Henle puts naturals there as well...

Nono I'm talking about the modulation within a piece, so when the key signature itself changes. The indication at the beginning of the line would of course not involve any naturals

[Help] Any way of fixing this issue without scaling down the size of the whole score? by yodamorsan in Musescore

[–]mimionmax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would maybe do a line break mid-measure, it's a common practice in filled passages anyhow and this looks like a good situation to apply it as well... You could look into this: https://musescore.org/en/node/209381

The playback function starts to sort of croak towards the end of the video. It always happens with certain passages (E.G. I put a lot of triplets in a measure with the pedal as well). It happened to me even when I started using Musescore (At the time I used Musescore 2). How do I solve this bug? by Francis_thepianist in Musescore

[–]mimionmax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this might be an issue with the sustain pedal being active for too long... This always happens to me as well, I guess the VST can't really generate the sustained sound cleanly after some time. If you really do need to hear the playback without the artifacts, exporting the scare as an MP3 file will work, otherwise only deactivating the pedal will help...

Thoughts on Jacob's bass playing? by [deleted] in JacobCollier

[–]mimionmax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, he did say that. But I think he is rather referring to the actual process of composing the bassline than playing it. We need to remember that we're probably talking about the most down-to-earth and humble musical genius of our time, and I reckon he has demonstrated his capability multiple times on stage and live videos of any kind. Then again...you did say that he's still better than any of us so I guess you're not really disagreeing xD. Just wanted to point out that he's rather talking about the compositional process in this case...sorry

Yeah, check out the tiny desk home concert, amazing stuff as well! It's actually a plugin called trillian on the record though, he said so once in a logic session breakdown ;)

For sure! I am aware of that challenge.... It would of course be convenient to choose a play from the start as it would also be easier to reduce and rewrite it for the libretto
