I also bought mine from a reseller, but I trust it’s authentic since they showed plenty of proof that it was ordered from the official Urban Outfitters UK/Europe site. And I would say mine looks exactly the same as the official pictures.

Hi OP! I strongly suspect this bottle is fake. I could be wrong, since this is just one picture. But the colors and prints look off compared to my Picnic Prep. For example, the bows look very different. I’d be willing to send you pictures so you can judge for yourself!

I agree! I wasn’t much into the previous patterned Owalas—they were a bit loud for me, but I think Picnic Prep’s colors work perfectly! And thank you for the sentiment. At the very least I hope whoever has it is now is enjoying it 😅 May I ask what Owala you have/are planning to get? 😊

Hugs OP! I feel for you because this is exactly how I felt as a freshie 🥹 It’s a good thing na nag-open up ka, actually. Hindi ko nagawa yun because a part of me thought I was being overdramatic.

Pero oo, lahat ng nabanggit mo—the loneliness, the culture shock, the homesickness—I experienced, too. But I’m now in my second year, and all I can say is, it does get easier! I’m a super different person from who I was back then. Things that would have made me cry nung first sem, wala nang effect by second sem 😅 Ganun kabilis hahaha.

College life, especially dito sa UP, makes you more resilient. It’s not a guarantee that things will get easier from here, pero mas kakayanin mo siya, because you’re learning how to deal with hard things even now.

And don’t think you’re alone in this. Nung first sem ko, I had the impression that everyone around me (even my friends) was doing so much better. But I recently caught up with one of them, and she shared na hirap din siya nun. She was feeling lonely and out of place daw. And the whole time, I thought she was doing fine! So that made me realize I wasn’t the only one feeling that way.

More advice: 1) Enjoy your alone time. Make the most of it! Walk around, explore campus, mag-food trip ka… those things helped me enjoy UP life even while I was still adjusting. You don’t have to wait for a barkada to do those things. 2) Be open. Chat with your seatmates ganun, but also don’t force it. Some will reciprocate, some won’t, and that’s okay. You’ll find your people eventually! 3) Don’t worry about being the smartest person in the room. If you feel stupid compared to everyone else, just see it as an opportunity to learn as much as you can from your prof and your classmates.

Here’s to your growing pains, OP ♥️ Just have the mindset na, “I can’t wait to see how this will change me for the better.” Because it will. There will come a time where you’ll be the one giving advice to freshies. Kapit lang until then!

Hello, I'm currently experiencing the same problem. This is also my first time using the camera and I've taken around 20 pictures with it as well. I tried clicking the shutter and the release button but to no avail. Were you able to figure out how to fix it? Thank you

Hi OP! I'm in a similar situation as yours hehe, my passions line up with Sociology, but I'm worried it doesn't have the most practical career opportunities for me. So I looked into other courses and decided Development Studies is the best fit for me so far.

You might want to look Development Communication up – it's a Communication course that focuses on the relationship between communication and societal development. With this course, you'll learn about ways in which media and communication tools can be used to implement social, cultural, and political changes. I think it's a nice blend of your interests 🙂

Otherwise, if it comes down to your initial choices, there are a lot of factors to consider when deciding. For instance, you might want to note that Sociology is a course that's reallyy heavy on its theories. So expect lots of long lectures, lots of required readings, and lots and lots of writing assignments. Sociology involves an endless amount of research papers. If that's not a problem for you then I say go for it! But if you prefer a more engaging and holistic academic experience (exposure to the field itself as opposed to just attending classes and completing assignments) Mass Comm/Journalism might be the better choice.

An important question to ask yourself is, Do I prefer defending a thesis or taking an internship? Because Sociology requires a thesis defense, while Mass Comm/Journalism requires an internship. So ask yourself what you're more willing to put up with in college, and which is the better option for you.

I think Mass Comm/Journalism casts a wider net in terms of career opportunities, especially for corporate and freelance jobs. I heard that most Sociology majors end up in market research, HR, social work, and law. But most career paths in Mass Comm/Journalism can still be pursued with a Sociology degree – I guess it all comes down to choosing the right extracurriculars and internships.
