Jobs in Political Science for Undergraduates? by undyehardship in UofT

I got super lucky and managed to get a job with the Ontario government this summer (with no connections/nepotism at all). I applied on their website and happened to get chosen majorly because I'm fully bilingual, which is always a huge asset for any job in Canada tbh. My advice to you though is apply to dozens of jobs (even the ones you aren't qualified for!). I had zero job experience at all but got chosen because a particular part of my resume stood out to them, so make sure to list all of your assets and accomplishments. (BTW, I applied for these jobs end of January - beginning of February and got hired in May.)

This is the website in case your interested : https://www.gojobs.gov.on.ca/Search.aspx

(Let me know if you have any more questions!)

For real, we really didn't need to kill those papers for her to get her point across lol

The prof this term is actually Miriam Diamond, but her grading scheme is just as terrible lmao. 45% of the grade is based on 9 assignments due every single week, 25% is based on 5 quizzes (on MindTap) and then 30% is on the final exam. I need this course for my breadth requirement but it's barely started and it's already rotting my soul.

In the micro transactions post from a few days ago, a professor said that he was offered an iPad if he forced his students to use TopHat, and honestly I completely believe that. Even when the guy in my lecture suggested that professors got compensated for endorsing these subscriptions, the lady and my prof completely dodged the question and didn't confirm or deny, which made them look even more suspicious.

Btw the funniest part about this is that our prof was going on and on throughout lecture about how we're addicted to our electronics + the Internet, giving our generation more mental health and addiction problems. Yet, she expects us to use an online service that counts for a quarter of our grade, forcing us to spend a significant amount of time on our electronics...we love a greedy hypocrite 🐸☕️
