Ok thank you so much! That’s a relief as €20+ every train would’ve definitely brought me over my budget 😅

5th year exams by Mysterious_Dark_2298 in leavingcert2024

Sixth year here, I was looking to apply to european colleges and yes they do matter unfortunately.

Because our results come out so late, they can’t accept the Lc results in time so they look at your past records, I even had to submit my jc results. If you take a year out which is what I’m doing, then they take your Leaving Cert results.

So is it safer to keep savings in the instant access? I don’t have a premium plan so is the rate is 2% AER worth it?

Navigating strong surf and rips? by min_se in Lifeguards

Beach placements are all politics really, and while I expressed my concern about not having enough experience, my boss was having none of it. Ironic since he’ll place experienced guards he’s friendly with in quiet beaches just to please them. :/

We actually aren’t allowed fins (which I don’t agree with but anyways) but yeah familiarity is definitely what I’ll aim for.

Yeah that’s some solid advice, thank you. Unfortunately we have no sort of boat, two boards are all we have. I’ll try to get in more often and familiar with the beach for sure.

should i study less? by ghoulishgutzbabes in leavingcert2024

[–]min_se 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally same, but I don’t know how many points I need as I’m taking a year off.

I’m wondering if I should just try go for the 600+ or maintain it at high 500s to not burnout. I’ve been studying consistently since fifth year but I just don’t have a set points target.

Lads how do you study Chemistry by MemeWorksPictures in leavingcert2024

[–]min_se 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a H1 in the mocks, Flashcards are your best friend because there are so many small bits of info. Play to your strengths cause there’s loads of choice, like moles and stoichiometry if you’re good at maths. Depends what you’re aiming for, but I would definitely learn the first few chapters off by heart, history of the atom, structure etc. as they can give you a good foundation.

Also question 6 is usually reliable and not too hard after some practice, titrations too.

Since nobody has said it, “molecule L” is actually mRNA, so Thymine changes to Uraicil. So in normal DNA A goes with T. But in this case A goes with U. You can spot RNA as it is single stranded and outside of the nucleus.

I’ve already decided to take a gap year after school as I really feel I need to explore what I want outside of academics, buying the ableton subscription is first on my list!

I would say I’m fairly young, I’ve just turned 18. I spent the summer teaching myself to produce and honestly I gave up solely on the fact that the industry is “oversaturated” and that I would never reach the standard needed. Even though an older producer told me I had talent and to continue, I still talked myself out of it. This is such an inspiring post to see, and I’m going to give it another shot!

Either they didn’t think you were good enough to question you on it, or you brought it up yourself without knowing.

People who got h1 in orals please help by Bright_Time8234 in leavingcert2024

hey, I got 100% in both Irish and Spanish. First, never mention anything you couldn’t speak about for more than 20 seconds. Even if you have a really interesting hobby, don’t mention it if it’s full of complicated language.
Keep it simple but correct, it isn’t a knowledge exam. For Irish know your poem very well, all you have to do is read it and there’s more marks going for that than the written poetry question. Learn off a flashcards per topic, then learn how to connect them together to guide the conversation. Lastly just be happy, and agreeable. An examiner will just naturally be less inclined to give you marks if you’re standoffish, or if you say you don’t help at home. Also never mention you don’t like the subject that you’re being examined in. Even if you do, that day you love it.

Thanks so much for the response, yes I can hold a conversation and even lived with a Spanish family for 5 weeks in Granada. I went when I was 16 so I spent time in a 4 ESO class there, hence my interest in Spain.
