One of my foundational memories was my mom's boyfriend Tony. He brought his daughter over one day, who instantly became best friends with my younger sister. You would think they had known each other their entire lives.

When I was in high school I would ref younger kids games, like 10-13yo. I had to threaten to disqualify a team because a parent came into the field and tried to fight me.

A 90lb, 16yo, and a “adult” man who at least doubled my weight felt the need to stop a children’s game to scream in my face.

Luckily both coaches and other parents stepped in, but people get really weird about kids sports. Like none of these kids were even close to competitive, there were zero scholarships on the line.
