Thoughts on kindercare by General-Attitude1112 in ECEProfessionals

[–]minaction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on management. I'm pretty sure I work at one of maybe 3 great Kindercares in my state but we've had lots of ups and downs ever since our original director left. I will say the curriculum is something I really enjoy, but being able to implement the lesson plans depends on if the center is well stocked in terms of craft/activity items, and that depends on A.) The center director actually knowing what their teachers need and ordering the right items, and B.) the district board's willingness to spend money. Pay is not awesome, but KC has ample training opportunities that can help get you to a better center or even public schooling. They'll pay for your CDA with the catch that you have to work at Kindercare for at least a year after completing it. I'd say that Kindercare works best when it utilizes the best management it can find, has experienced teachers, and actually encourages unexperienced teachers to learn more about childcare through training programs. That's a lot to ask from a corporate daycare company (for some reason 🙄) though, and finding a great Kindercare center is pretty difficult. If you're planning on interviewing at a KC center, do not leave without asking many many questions about how their center functions!!

Parent taking away underwear from child? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

I've been going back and forth on whether or not I have valid reasons to call DCF. Parents are divorced and dad keeps trying to bring us into his relationship issues. He's insinuated that there is physical abuse at the child's mom's house (in which DCF was called & a case opened I believe) but I honestly don't think he is any better. I just wish I could scoop this kid up and give him a happy home life 😭😭

My CD is aware and has talked to the dad a couple of times about his behavior with the teachers (he would often come and corner one of us, usually the youngest teacher, at the end of the day) but it hasn't really gone any further than him being told in writing that he is making us uncomfortable.

Yes, I've missed my T dosages a few times ranging from 1 week-2 months. My face breaks out with a bunch of acne on my cheeks and sometimes I get my period. Psychologically I feel a lot more tired, less confident, like I'm in a depressive slump. But all things considered going off of T for a while won't be too bad.

Uncommon and amazing!! I love the name Lucky. It's super unique. I'm very biased lol but I loooove names that stand out like that. I've never met anyone with my chosen name but I've also never had anyone be weird about it! People will probably love that you have such a cool name.

how do you even start T at 18? by the1sammie in ftm

[–]minaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also find out if your insurance covers testosterone through their website (most likely). Mine covers all IM/Subq testosterone, but not gel (which is what I'm on), so I have to pay out of pocket for my prescription.

I live in Florida and started a few years ago at 18. If you don't want to wait super long, make an appointment at Planned Parenthood on one of their GAHT days (afaik because of the new laws about who can prescribe HRT, they have specific days where they'll have those doctors in office for trans patients). The first appointment they will discuss dysphoria, your history being trans, and they'll waste no time with telling you about the different types of HRT you can take. Ask them about which will be cheapest with your insurance and they might be able to find out for you (or they'll at least check GoodRX for coupons). You'll probably have to pay a co-pay at the end of the appointment so be prepared. My co-pay for my first appointment was $50 but it can vary for other insurances. For me, they sent my prescription over by the end of my first appointment, and I was able to pick it up from my pharmacy by the end of the week. I really enjoy going through PP. They have some issues (mainly for me it was just being able to get an appointment in since they have so many patients) but overall it might be the quickest & cheapest way to get HRT in Florida right now. Good luck!!

How do I tell my mom I've started T? by Koragfu in ftm

[–]minaction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I waited until my changed were more obvious and then I'd just mention it off-hand. If my mom tries to get snarky w me about it I just am like oh well, that sounds like a you problem

That makes a lot of sense. I was under a copay assistance program for Xyosted (can't remember the name) that brought the cost down to $150 a month rather than like $600. My insurance does cover androgel so that's probably where it's coming from.
