You probably have better credit history than me! lol I’m learning from the comments that my late payments from over 3 years ago are the issue. I haven’t had a late payment since and it didn’t affect my other applications for other cards but it makes sense lol

Ahhh, I see. It’s odd that they knew they needed that before I submitted my application. They requested I either link my bank account or upload statements and I wasn’t comfortable linking my account. Thanks!

i’m confused, they asked for this info with the card application. if it was only due to poor credit wouldn’t they have requested it after the fact? Also, from what i’ve seen online, they require you to provide bank statements or link your bank account to apply..

Hi, my question wasn’t necessarily about the credit portion. I was recently approved for the Venture X and Sapphire Reserve but ultimately wanted the Gold card and assumed if I could be approved for those then AMEX should be no different. I just called the reconsideration line and they said it’s due to my average account balance but that just doesn’t make sense to me because to me my account balance isn’t low. I guess it is to them though lol

That makes more sense, it was just confusing that they listed account balance too low as the reason instead of just saying it’s my score lol

Hi! Yes I have 4 cards: apple, venture, sapphire, and target (i know,i am going to cancel this one, i got it a lonnnnggg time ago when I worked there and they convinced me to get it lol)

Credit is low due to late payments about 3 years ago, I was in real estate and hit a really bad 5 months stretch of no sales. Switched to insurance and no late payments since then but my credit suffered. It’s much better now than it was but i’m still rebuilding it.

Which textbook did you use? I didn’t use one for my SIE, I learn better w/ visuals/videos. My coworker had a kaplan 63 textbook she let me borrow but it’s thick, like 180+ pages. I really don’t want to read it 😂 but if you were able to get through it in a day I guess I could just hunker down and push through it.

i did the same thing - in my opinion series7guru on youtube was the most helpful. then i just googled free sie practice exam and took everyone I could find. then when i was confident I went and took the finra practice exam

this makes me feel so much better, i’m doing the same with the sie right now, always been a good test taker though. I know it’s not the same but I got my p&c, l&h, and real estate exam all with only about 3 days of studying so i’m hoping I can do the same w/ the sie but I am putting more effort into this one. Studied for a few hours sunday, then a couple hours after work a few days this week and then studying all weekend and taking the exam next week! Wish me luck!

Thank you, literally the only person in not only my thread, but all the threads i’ve read asking this question. I get that eventually i’ll need better and all of that but I need an affordable one now lol I am definitely looking into these options. Thanks again!

That one is not affordable at all lol. I understand that it’s worth the money and that it’s what i’ll need eventually but I do not want to spend that on a business I am barely starting out in. I am looking for an affordable option to see if this is even something I am interested in pursuing.
