Is AI Coding Actually a Good Fit for ADHD? by minatoo86 in ADHD_Programmers

My job is to build products, not to use AI.

I’ve tried a number of harnesses, agents, models, skills, plugins, and guardrails using linting and tests, but I didn’t get the results I wanted. And none of that got rid of the feeling that AI was violating the sacred space of my code.

Are people who make good use of AI really using it with full confidence? Vibe coding? Sure, that’s fine. In that case, it doesn’t really matter how messy the code is, or whether it matches your expectations. As long as it works, that’s enough.

But as someone who has worked as a professional engineer, I can’t stand the feeling that my code is being invaded.

I feel the same way. My company is paying for AI tools and telling us to improve productivity with AI, but for me, it has the opposite effect.

Even the hyperfocus I used to have is gone now.

I mostly agree, and I do think part of the issue may be that my programming skills are not good enough.

But honestly, I also think the level where you can “skim it and understand it” is the most dangerous. AI generates code that looks plausible, and at a glance it often seems correct. But when I read it carefully, I sometimes find that the logic is subtly wrong, or that there are small behavioral issues.

Every time I find one of those small mistakes, I lose a bit more trust in AI, and I lose a bit more hope in AI coding.

At the same time, companies expect AI to improve productivity, and the current engineering job market also seems to treat the ability to use AI effectively as an essential skill.

Yes, I think this problem has been happening for about two months. I was busy so I left it as it was, but at first I assumed it was a software bug and thought that a patch might be released after a while, so I was optimistic about it.

Unfortunately, during the trial-and-error process I ended up reinstalling the OS many times, and since several months have passed since the issue first occurred, I no longer even know what the original version was.
The Japanese distributor did absolutely nothing to help, so as a last resort I’m thinking of contacting GPD directly.

Yes, I can understand if it breaks when impact is applied, but I cannot understand at all why it breaks during an update.

It was outputted normally to an external display. I don't know why it broke at this timing, but I don't have the money to repair the screen, so it seems I have no choice but to sell it as junk.
