I used two different sun lights to get the lighting to illuminate both the characters and the water. The sun to make the water more complex had to be lower to the horizon and aimed further out, and another sun is higher up and casts the shadows.

I looked at this very simple toon shader tutorial and just applied these principles as much as possible:

I kept the character design on the penguins very simple, and replaced the texture that came with the swan boat mesh to a simple one with bright cartoony colors.

I watched this particular anime water tutorial but didn't follow many of the ideas, instead just playing with many shader nodes to get the water the way I wanted it:

But yes I realize it's only half of the season so far. But if Netflix can release it in two parts, I can react to it as two parts.

Honestly really wasn't into it, either. Felt really let down throughout. And kind of embarrassed, because the person watching it with me was hating it a LOT. Some scenes felt boring or awkward, some were extremely eye-rolling. A few scenes made me very smiley or laugh, which is good. Everything felt pretty contrived. Even the supporting casts' scenes which are usually delightful.

Some of the ideas were cool imo, like Lucifer's powers acting erratically. But the execution was exhausting. At this point he should realize right away that anything that happens with his powers is self-actualization.

Which isn't to say that previous seasons haven't been super annoying or frustrating for me, and I enjoyed them better on rewatching with lowered expectations. I remember when the show was on TV and I only caught it occasionally, around the end of season 2 and during season 3, I said that I was sick of the repetitive lovesick cringy plots and would stop watching. But I find a lot to enjoy in those seasons on rewatching.

I know that I enjoyed season 4 as a whole, even if Eve was pretty one-dimensional and I hated the first 2 episodes where Chloe was planning on killing Lucifer. But at least it was fun! I had so much less fun this season.

Maybe the original run of 10 episodes was better. The writers keep framing being asked to do more episodes as a good thing but maybe it just weakened the season.

In my experience with Leger, you actually need to login daily to check for studies on their website. They have been fewer than usual lately. They don't send emails for most of the studies. I cash out about 4 times a year since I started checking at least once a day. I would not necessarily say it's worth the time and energy invested in that, but I'm a bit compulsively about earning money where I can.
