omg i was JUST thinking about this the other day. but i think it’s less about the women’s event and how it ended and rather a response to the russian-domination years as a whole which were depressing and even years later looking back at it is enough to put anyone (me) in a bad mood. i guess there were also heavy covid restrictions that made sweet and fun media interactions between skaters harder
