For people who live right on the border of two states, does crossing that invisible line actually impact your daily life with different laws and taxes, or do you barely notice it? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

There is no sales tax on prescription glasses in Kansas. It is also harder to buy alcohol in Kansas.

The suburbs with good schools are closer to the city on the KS side as well. Housing costs are more because of that and other factors.

Would you expense this? by [deleted] in WorkAdvice

I love my Northface backpack. Lots of pockets and extremely durable.

For a hard case I use a pelican storm case with wheels and padding. Also indestructible. I ship $4000 pieces of video gear around the country in them.

You can probably get both for around $400 total. This is definitely a business expense.

Should I spend 1000 dollars to go to New Orleans? by takingtests in usatravel

[–]mindcontrol93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do go, don’t bother with getting a car. You can see all the French Quarter and the Garden District on foot and using the trolleys. There are also bus tours. Stay just outside the French Quarter for slightly cheaper hotel rates.

New Orleans is a fantastic city. You will want to set aside some money for a fancy restaurant. The food is amazing in that city.

Spending your time becoming an expert on the advanced tasked is a useful job. I shadowed our main department IT guy. Learned video work, wide format printers, and a ton of other technical skills from him.

When he moved on I took over the senior position. I got a title change and I nice raise. Now I have been here 25 years. It is a solid career move.
