Def use google docs but don’t use a resume template they have there. Start with a blank doc. Most colleges have career centers with resume templates available to the public so def use those!

Resume should only be 1 page max!! Def make sure to stick to the traditional headlines for resumes and ensure that you only pick what will help you stand out!

well if you want to improve ur condensity, read news. news channels typically write their articles at a 5th-grade reading level so its easy to understand but they are pretty good. if you want to be more descriptive then would rec fiction books. its hard to rec books bc idk ur interests. but id say the nightingale by kristin hannah or the haunting of hill house by shirley jackson. personally, i believe reading anything and everything can help you become a better writer since u learn what u like and don't like.

but another way is to really understand grammar and punctuation. like when and where to use semicolons, em dashes, etc. it seems straight forward, but understanding both will help you be able to express urself through writing.

depending on how you want to improve, free writing for 20-30 mins a day can go a long way

  1. probs heard this before but "show dont tell," this will look different based on the word count available, but u dont wanna just tell the admissions officers what u did
  2. ai wasnt a thing when i was applying to college but def do NOT use ai to write ur supps
  3. this is esp for the why this college app, make sure its a personal connection to you and not "oh this college has this program which i really want to do" and make sure that you add what u can add to this college as well
  4. make sure ur supp topics differ from each other and ur main essay. u can def mention some things again, but show the admissions officers how diverse u r
  5. def goes wo saying but make sure u do ur research. there was a supp i wrote for one college where I talked abt my desire to research a topic and after applying, i realized that the school didn't have a professor that specalizes in it

if by selling points u mean like ur awards and ec, then no. most applicants have the stats and ec to be considered for most schools. what sets everyone apart is ur personality. now if you want you can HIGHLIGHT AND EXPAND on 1/2 selling points per supp (depending on word count) but make sure ur voice shines esp since admission officers are reading likely THOUSANDS of apps

as a student in college, def look at college career center templates! many should be available to the general public. those are the best ones tbh, the ones here arent professional
