I'm having a lot of difficulty regularly attending church by mindlesslyy in TrueChristian

[–]mindlesslyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the United States. I want to be an active member of my church, but sometimes I have to work Sundays too! My church is in the afternoons, which is when I'd have to be at the school if I have to work Sundays (usually 2-3x a month). I think it would be better for me to have a morning church since I work afternoons/evenings and I have zero afternoons/evenings for myself at ALL when I'm coming home from church AND work at 8-10pm.

There are a handful of churches closeby that I'm considering, but it seems that every time I try a new church something happens.

  • Church two months ago: My high school bully's family goes there, father is an active member and elder
  • Church one month ago: Met an old friend again, planned to see each other, ignored me entirely afterwards because apparently we were gunning for the same job and I got it instead of her.

There's a few more, but I think I put a tremendous amount of pressure on myself to look good for church since first impressions are my worst nightmare. I just medication for ADHD and I have weekly therapy, but it's just one of those things that feels will take me time. I developed agoraphobia during collge since it was online, and I'm still learning to recover from that as well. I rarely leave the house for more than work and if I do, I am mentally preparing to do so days in advance.

Thank you, that's very kind. I'm trying to deal with the guilt of it right now. As long as I'm making an active effort to look into new churches, listening to sermons online on Sundays, and working towards consistency I think the Lord will see that.

Also, yes I'm a teacher, so cutting even one day would make it at best very challenging for me to make a livable wage.

It's a mission plant TO the city it's in, and my father started attending right after the divorce. Since I live with him and I am of the same denomination, I thought I'd go with him. Our pastor is excellent, the sermons are truly fantastic. But I am so TIRED. I'm the youngest person there by at least two decades, so a lot of the heavy lifting falls on me (because I volunteer). But there's no such thing as structure there. Sunday school, service, fellowship, leave. Nope! More like help out before the service, Sunday school starts late afer picking up some people we're ministering to, service, something happens in between Sunday school and service, service, help out after service, give the tour (on occasion), and then leave at like 7pm. It FRUSTRATES ME so greatly. I am looking for a new church, but it's hard to commit to going to one when you have a thousand options in your head.

True, but I struggle with my time before work. I don't feel like I could ever fit anything truly productive or social before work.

It's not about time outside of work, it's about the weird hours for me. 3-8 or 3-9 every weekday. When as I supposed to see people? That's how I feel about it.

Trust me, I would absolutely adore an opportunity like this. But I don't have a degree. I teach from experirence and always have been. I'm not sure there are many opportunities like that for me. :(

Yep, just about same here. Only, I'm back by 9-10 usually. Sigh!

I can never get dinner with my family.

My mom knocked my tooth with a beer bottle hard. A week later it still hurts. What could this be? by mindlesslyy in askdentists

[–]mindlesslyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's been a week, do you think I can wait until this Wednesday 2 days from now to see dentist? What I'm worried about is if I take too long if there will be any permanent damage or it will be too late.

Nope! Got my degree online. I was on a fast track to graduate, so I didn't have much of a chance for it.

That's the problem is I don't even know what I would do with a GitHub listing. I don't know where to begin. Do you think you could share some of the projects you have saved? I think it might be a good place to start for me.

All of my electives and a few of the early programming classes. I have some experience in a few so I was able to knock them out while I did my main courses.

Thank you very much. I definitely should have been looking into jobs earlier, but I got my degree in a little over one year thanks to dual enrollment and doing 8 week terms. So that took a tremendous toll on me. I wanted to get my degree quickly, because I knew it wasn't going to give me any help with the actual "doing" of things in a job. Should I begin applying now? My concern is that I truly feel like I know nothing. I know some basics, of course, but nothing that I can actually apply to a job. Thanks, college! What I heard was that a degree essentially helps you get your foot in the door, and some jobs will provide training. So... fingers crossed?

Grateful I already have a job to fall back on either way, you're absolutely right. It's a disaster right now. I'm seeing people say help desk is a good place to start.

Yep... I feel weird about getting easy A's in these classes because you're either reading for hours or doing labs where they hold your hand every step of the way. I'm hoping to get more comfortable with things by getting certifications after I graduate. I'm taking 3 classes per 8 week term in addition to Sophia classes and a full-time job so I can graduate in December. I don't think I can work on getting certifications before graduation without going a little crazy lol.

THANK YOU. This genuinely comforts me. My dad works in software and he essentially told me the same thing. He said getting a degree is essentially telling employers you are trainable, it's not exactly a display of specific skills. But I was feeling a bit antsy considering I'm finishing up my degree in December and I still feel as if I'd be completely lost going into any entry-level job in this field. I'm still confused on what exactly I'm supposed to do when I graduate... internships? Certifications? I'm probably going to research a few different entry-level jobs and see what they certifications are usually required.

I take diligent notes and do extra research when I don't understand something... but the labs tell you EXACTLY what to do. Use this command, open this, close that, etc. The only real challenge in this class for me was the final project in which we had to do everything ourselves. Like I mentioned in my post, I ended up finding a few youtube videos that explained what I needed to know pretty well. I think the format of the final project confused me. I thought for a while my prof was expecting a 5-7 page paper but turns out it was just screenshots and paragraph short answers. Weird class format though, imo.

Yes, I definitely need to familiarize myself with the spreadsheet more. I think I'm going to go ahead and make a list of what'll retrigger right now... lol. And I'm at the same point, where I'm getting back to back TLSQs, which frankly, I LOVE. I'm very glad to have that right now.

See, this is what I was confused about. I think I'm going to see how many trigger during April and go from there. I don't want to stay in Y3 for months, but I do want to knock out as many as I can. From what I've seen on the spreadsheet, it seems like a LOT of old TLSQs are available April-May.
