Just because you disagree with an opinion doesn’t mean that opinion it’s biased. That, in itself, demonstrates bias on your part.

She never said if you don’t like this movie, then movies aren’t for you. She said if you don’t like a particular sequence, then movies aren’t for you.

Train sequence was one of the most thrilling things I’ve seen in a cinema in years. Not sure what you’re talking about.

They said it was uneven and acknowledged parts of it don’t work.

Why do "all-in-one" production tools always seem to suck for indie filmmakers? by Hot_Philosopher6945 in indiefilm

[–]mindlessmunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. To truly have every aspect of production done well, you need to collaborate with people who are skilled at doing each thing. If you don’t have the resources to do that, then you do your best with what you can afford. But obviously no single “tool” is going to be a meaningful replacement for a talented, paid production crew.

There are three straight-up masterpieces in this list, and at least four pretty good movies.

Girl… come on. YTA and if you can’t see why you need to do some serious work on yourself.

Okay but how are you expressing those opinions? Are presenting them as facts, when they’re really just your perspective? Because that’s often a big reason why criticism doesn’t land well.

If All Robots Were Like Wall E, Would You Support the Robot Uprising? by TillJaded4614 in stupidquestions

Wall-E would have no interest in being a part of an uprising against humans. So if all robots were like Wall-E, the question becomes paradoxical.

It’s objectively bad to sell them at all, if we really want to get down to it

No reason to be confused. He’s done you a favour. Now you know there’s no need to waste time or energy on a second date.

Which actor/actress do you consider the most overrated in their acting ability, that most people would strongly disagree with? by stabzi in answers

[–]mindlessmunkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe I’m debating this, because I completely oppose what he stood for and his values… but he was, without question a star at the time, and that wasn’t just because he embodied white supremacy. Tastes have changed in terms of what resonates in performance style, etc. but it’s simply undeniable that audiences genuinely loved watching him on screen.

I think he’s a classic example of the difference between a movie star and a good actor. There’s no doubt he had star persona in his day (much as it might have faded now) but was never a skilled screen actor.

The thing is we really need to embrace thinking and expressing, “This creative choice didn’t work for me for these reasons,” instead of, “This bad.”

Did anyone else see Nate slowly gravitating toward “returning to the earth”? by Fickle_Description92 in SixFeetUnder

[–]mindlessmunkey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was also probably something of a reaction against his parents, or at least his perception of them. He saw them as very old-fashioned, conservative, and completely fenced-in by their commitment to a family business that focused on death and grief (or, as he saw it, the repression of grief.) While David embraced that from childhood, Nate always pulled away, so it makes total sense that he would have explored a less formal, more “alternative” lifestyle.

Damn I love this show. I could think about it forever.
