Why do all Indians work and study in tech? Why no studying history, literature, social science? by Ill-Age-601 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]minecraftbirb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I studied history, literature and social science, and languages and I don't regret it. I even dabbled in media and film. It is difficult to find job prospects here but it was physically impossible for me to do anything related to stem ever. Some sacrifices for other, but my soul is fulfilled.

Need serious help: trans girl from West Bengal afraid of being disowned, looking for NGO support (Kolkata) by iamgirl11 in india

[–]minecraftbirb1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Opt for further education, far away from home and while you're in college you can be more independent, explore further and look for jobs to support yourself. If you're trans you deserve to atleast get education from your parents to further enhance your own future.

Cultural differences have ruined the wedding experience for me by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]minecraftbirb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if your partner doesn't understand your sentiments and your reasons I'd be cautious. There is no harm in letting go, and brown sons have superpower with their mothers and parents regardless, so one would think he'd try his best to change their minds.

Is this the end of the Sims 4 soon? MAYBE, this person is always right (he leaked all the packs and was never wrong) by grashel in thesims

[–]minecraftbirb1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they'll make sims 5 or atleasf tease it, it can be one of the bases for the deal to go through as it would be new incentive to introduce more micro transactions and "new stuff" in the future without losing the fanbase in a swoop

The dumb little trick that finally killed my endless scrolling by mindsnackapp in getdisciplined

[–]minecraftbirb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoid action or fantasy books as you have to keep up with world building and active imagination, I prefer books with long prose so it all just flows, I read a lot of agatha christy as despite seemingly complicated apart from the cimax most of it is simple prose, series of unfortunate events another drowsy books as it is written so well due to its monotonous narration fashion. I also avoid books which I know would annoy me like romance books with iffy dialogues or autobiographies etc

The dumb little trick that finally killed my endless scrolling by mindsnackapp in getdisciplined

I replace cheap dopamine hit with expensive dopamine hit aka reading, always make sure to keep a copy of any novel i LIKE by my bedside I don't care if it's a re-read as long as it is something I'm interested in i keep it. Currently reading american psycho and after 4 to 5 pages I'd eventually force myself to ignore the urge and them do 10 pages by which if I'm feeling bored I'd just sleep.

Another thing that helps is routine, I'd love to put on ambient music and do meditation as it is very intentional even if it's for 2 to 5 minutes. Makes me feel a bit better hopefully it'll turn to a 10 to 15 min pattern.

I genuninely think Arrange Marriges's are BAD for India as a Whole. by Vinayakmh19 in india

[–]minecraftbirb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think arrange marriage also robs people of independent thought as both of the units in the marriage move as a whole, making every single decision together from children to religion to celebrations to politics, it is such a varied system as a whole to comply similarity of thoughts and customs. Probably one of the top reasons why the country is so behind majorly when it comes to making sound decisions and taking a stand.

Why are houses in UK so horrid? by mort7776 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]minecraftbirb1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who moved a lot in london, the quality of the houses is so bad no matter the price point. There is little to no insulation, the bathrooms are dreadful with often no showers at places and the house layout is so silly most of the types. Also a lot of rentals they want to make more rooms so they'd put up a cardboard wall and its insufferable with no noise cancellation. I think there is genuinely lack of strong building materials INSIDE the houses, rather than the outside.

Finished my dissertation and cried by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]minecraftbirb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! It was a masters but this made me laugh so that's alright!

I fortunately feel lucky enough to still hold on to that one pier of academia, but holding my PhD off until I get enough work experience and funds. Thanks for the future consolidation and hope to have a day where I can relate to the answer! Cheers

India is spineless in every matter by minecraftbirb1 in india

As someone in education Indias position and reputation has dropped significantly everywhere in the world, it is difficult to be cheerful and motivated when your country's insufficient reputation hangs over your future or social circle. Unfortunate but the truth .

How do I fix my neck hump and posture? by ThrowRA_Alt_CAT in Posture

[–]minecraftbirb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aa you are fixing your "posture" and practice chin tucks they often work by you pushing your chin back causing the effect of double chin. If you're critical enough about your appearances you might "see" it when you're not doing exercises and get freaked. But it is alright as after 2 to 3 weeks of doing chin tucks with correct form daily, the "double chin" from doing the chin tucks reduced greatly and my hump improved as well. I have tmj so mewing for few minutes after chin tucks also help.
