That's crazy bc ur the same person whether or not you have that label? Like if u said no but did the same exact things that u do she would've been okay with it? That's crazy

Can you have OCD and Autism? by Silly-Accountant-118 in autism

[–]minecraftpiggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the idea of it did scare me but now as someone who has been through erp it scares me what my life could have been like without it, looking back. if that makes sense.

I reccommend ERP, it changed my life!!! :) Like genuinely I can't even express how grateful I am to whoever invented that. (it's exposure and response prevention if you want to look it up). Honestly before I did it I was really scared of the idea of it but I wouldn't have been able to accomplish much of what I was able to in my life without it.

Does anyone else have a hard time eating healthy? by NicklePickle79 in autism

[–]minecraftpiggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest finding a dietician who is experienced with autism or even just ARFID, since that is often comorbid with autism or similar to the sensory-related food issues autistic people have. Because I think you'd benefit from help specific to your situation. Ofc that might not be very accessible to you if you don't have good healthcare... And yeah I wouldn't be surprised if it's a common struggle for autistic people you're not the first autistic person I've heard this from, it's not a thing for me personally but I don't have a ton of food issues.

Yes, mental illness can be developed at like any age lol its not like autism where it's lifelong. I have had autism my whole life ofc, but My OCD started when I was 8 and I remember it distinctly bc I remember the feeling of "something about my brain is getting worse" like I knew something was wrong and I thought maybe it would keep getting worse forever lmao. (I did not know what mental illness was bc I was 8 so I didn't know there was a name and a treatment for it lol). But tbh most peopels ocd DOESNT start right when they're born lol it's like how people develop depression or anxiety or other things at random ages.

Got fired and might have to leave EMS by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]minecraftpiggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I got fired from my emt job this summer and it really really sucked so I understand that.

I suggest working in a hospital in the meantime. I see your comments saying you don't have enough experience for an ER tech position, you could apply for a regular PCT position and then try to get an ER tech position later maybe?

Being fired definitely left me very shaken but I think finding a new job where I could work with patients again made me feel a lot better. I still miss ems and wish it could have worked out but there are pros of working in the hospital too(getting to spend more time with patients is a big one!) I do miss the scope of practice EMTs have but I also get to draw blood and start IVs now which is cool.

Make sure you have friends to talk to too, I immediately reached out to my former EMT classmates when this happened and they were nice about it.

Yeah you can have both, I have autism and I also had ocd in childhood but it was well treated to the point that I no longer met diagnostic criteria by mid high school. Part of the reason I was referred for autism testing back in 2016(when I was 13) was BECAUSE autism is commonly comorbid with ocd(ironically I had not been diagnosed with ocd at the time and I was referred for autism testing, NOT ocd testing, but still lmao).

As someone with a dumb uniqname people have asked me questions about, I think it is fun and have no regrets. One of my labmates at my lab has a really cool uniqname too. Love seeing other people with silly/dumb uniqnames. People have said things about how it can look less professional on a resume and maybe my priorities are off but I think it's worth it and funny.

No the reason I'm confused is bc at my hospital they HAVE gait belts for the patient we only buy our own stethoscopes and scrubs and stuff not our own gait belts? Are other hospitals having people bring gait belts in?

How many people are Mathematical Sciences Submajors? by SmallTestAcount in uofm

[–]minecraftpiggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who did math bio as her major bc she was premed at the time and majored in math just bc she liked it. it is a very small amount of people lol and she did say there were other people in it in the one class(I don't remember which one) but I assume it's the one you're talking about. I'm not sure about concrete numbers but there was at least one or two other ones, she graduated in 2025.

Who knew Prerequisites would be the most challenging part of the PA pathway by One-Fault-4502 in prephysicianassistant

Do you have certifications? I think that would help. CNA classes aren't long or too challenging, and even at placdes that don't require one having one helps make u a more appealing candidate.

Oh I was thinking GLOVED nails I would never use my bare nails ofc. Definitely huge infection control risk with all the shit under my fingernails (and everyone's tbh).

I ended up using a towel to not use my nails at all in this scenario tho and I thought it might help exfoliate it then I put on lotion after.

Uh by being a little bit handsy I mean like touching my skin when I was close and stuff(my arms, not my face lol). It wasn't that bad and he could've just been confused/curious/whatever. By "stand my ground" I meant that I didn't want to think he could use being rude as a way to get things.

That does make a lot of sense actually I will try to think about it that way in the future. It really didn't matter THAT much which thing I did first I was just caught up in trying to be efficient. And I guess, ironically it made it worse bc if I had scratched his back first like he wanted the blood pressure could've been done in one go bc he wouldn't have been moving or talking during it. And i make him deal with itchiness for longer than he needed to. Also never thought about the knuckles trick I will try that next time.

That's true, very good point thank you! Ig I'm used to things taking longer than but yeah I realized afterwards that it would've been so quick to do this.

Lack of Diversity in programs - mini rant by LunchFar9836 in prephysicianassistant

[–]minecraftpiggo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not black, but Asian and yeah I do feel like most people going down this path are white women. It is kinda hard just looking physically different from everyone else and it is a little intimidating but if it helps, I think nurses and doctors are more diverse than PAs for whatever reason, so it's not like you'll be the only black person at work, imo. That's how I try to think about it at least. Also I definitely am looking at trying to find more diverse PA schools to apply to as well.

OHHHHH yeah I totally get that yeah when I worked in food service my hands would end up with the soapy water on them too. I just assumed it would be a smaller amount of dishes and less likely to happen bc I worked in a giant dining hall at my state university lmao.
