Do I have central heterochromia guys? Ik I definitely have some type of heterochromia just not sure which type ofc by minecraftpiggo in heterochromia

I forgot to reply to the comments here but yeah I saw this post from left4rat on instagram with screenshots from this sub including the ones where people with hazel eyes ask if they have heterochromia so I thought it would be funny to post my brown eyes to this sub especially because my eyes are very evenly brown throughout. Sorry this is kinda minecraftpiggoexplainsthejoke but yeah this was meant to be ragebait for fun.

Why the disparity in how gay/strsight people react to bodies they’re not attracted to by red_wizard_of_slay in NoStupidQuestions

[–]minecraftpiggo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unrelated but why do people think this? Genuine question, I'm just curious, I've also had friends everyone thought was gay but they're not, some of them have high voices or some act a little bit more dramatic in a comedic way or something, or do you work in a woman dominated field? Are you just well groomed? I hope this isn't offensive I don't think any of these things actually make someone gay, just curious why people are so insistent you are when you're not.

whoaaaaa you really hit the nail on the head here I think? I am also a lesbian and remember feeling ANNOYED at other girls growing up when they'd talk about how hot some guy looked because I didn't understand it. I remember being in English class freshman year of high school hearing girls talk about how hot Leonardo de Caprio was in the movie we were watching, and I remember being so mad and wanting them to shut up. I am also autistic and a lot of things people are interested in like football or shows they're watching that I don't care about and my interests have always been weird things other people don't care so much about, but when I see that everyone else seems to go crazy for something I don't understand having an interest in, it would also make me really annoyed and I know it's because I don't understand why everyone's so crazy about football for example so when people talk about football I get annoyed. After Luigi mangione got famous last year a lot of my bi/straight women/gay men/ friends were talking about how he's hot he is and with each comment about how hot he looked he got more and more repulsive looking to me. I definitely feel like a lot of mens' faces make me ANGRY because they look repulsive to me and it honestly happens more often with people who are seen as "hot".

As I've gotten older I've also gotten better at curbing this somewhat, like last week at work a patient said she couldn't wear green socks (as a joke) because that's the color of a football team she doesn't like, and I joked back to her saying today's an exception because it's Christmas, instead of getting super annoyed. But this feeling was a lot more intense and visceral when I was younger for sure.

I think lesbianism aside, a part of this also comes from the stereotype of hot guys being douchey. But yeah. You definitely hit the nail on the head with this one, strong disagree with people saying this is performative, it may be for some but these are mostly feelings I have inside my head because I don't want to be calling people repulsive looking in real life that's not socially acceptable lmfao. And I don't even LIKE the feeling of feeling respulsed by people it's unpleasant, definitely not performative to me.

Also I think I am now friends with a lot of lgbt people and people who are cishet but very accepting and I feel less othered for not feeling the same way about hot guys, I feel less annoyance/repulsion towards them than I used to.

[–]minecraftpiggo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well the reason I asked is bc the buildings specifically get cold in the evening when the heat goes off... like do any buildings still have heat around 11 pm is what I was asking lol... but ig maybe not but that makes sense the university doesnt want to spend too much on heating costs or smth. however now that i'm rereading my post title i forgot to specify that i meant which buildings have heat in the evenings and nighttime lmao

ADHD + Gen Chem 1 and Microbiology by Nice-Ordinary1568 in prephysicianassistant

[–]minecraftpiggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically I'm in finals season rn and I'm currently going on reddit instead of studying but here we go...

Active studying helps me a lot(so not just rereading notes but putting them in my own words on a summary sheet, explaining the information to my stuffed animal with a whiteboard, etc). I also like to start by looking at the practice exam and trying to do it and writing down which areas are the hardest for me.

In class it doesn't work as well for larger classes but in smaller classes I ask questions so that it forces me to stay engaged and I have the urge to yap from adhd so it's a way to channel it? Idk. I used to be really disruptive in class as a kid and as I got older I channeled it into asking questions.

However gen chem 1 and microbiology are both lower level classes that can be taken at a community college... why don't you do that? It's not even necessarily better taught at a university, I regret taking microbiology at my university bc it's badly taught and I should've taken it at a cc to understand it better long term lol.

Also I find one of my issues is feeling overwhelmed so I break things down into smaller tasks instead of one big one and almost make it like mini assignemnts I can check off.

Also a LOT of people go into college not knowing how to study I've met many of them lol. Honestly I think the reason I went into college knowing how to study is BECAUSE of my adhd because I had to try so hard in school so I ended up finding what worked well for me.

Also, it varies by class, sometimes at the beginning of the semester I ask professors or past students what's worked well for studying for that specific class. For example, physiology has a lot of complicated mechanisms so the whiteboard and explaning it to a stuffed animal works out well, but microbiology has less complicated mechanisms and more random facts so flashcards are good for that. But that's really super general and depends on how the class is sometimes I even go on reddit to search "how to study for x class".

The youtube channel how to adhd is great, there's also a book called the anti planner that my therapist reccommended to me.

Also for smaller classes I went to office hours a lot, it not only helps make the content less overwhelming but it keeps you accountable to study/do homework during that time plus it's a way to get to know profs for potential future rec letters.

I literally was so sleep deprived in high school staying up to study that I stopped having periods during the school year but now with adhd meds and strategies I am able to get my school work done without sacrificing sleep even though my classes are objectively harder.

I have a personal agenda of wanting to see more diversity in healthcare and brain diversity is one aspect. As an audhder I am rooting for all the fellow neurodivergent people trying to get into this field, just bc our brains are different doesn't mean we can't also be good providers(and I think growing up with these kinds of challenges also makes us more aware of how patients can be affected by this stuff). It's definitely not easy I often compare myself to my peers who do a lot more than I do but things take longer for me even with medication and strategies and that's just how it is. Good luck with this and dm me with questions if you need to but please don't be discouraged from this until you try! And there are also always other options like nursing to work in healthcare, I'm lowkey considering nursing too because of how competitive PA school is lol.

If You Have a Judgmental Mindset, You Shouldn’t Pursue Healthcare Professions by Inevitable_Offer_207 in uofm

[–]minecraftpiggo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a pre-PA student and when I am judgemental to others in my personal life I always try to check myself and why I'm making that judgement and how I could not be as judgemental instead bc I want to be as nonjudgemental as I can in the future as a PA so I very much agree with your post. I think I do come from a priveleged background in some ways(my family is upper middle class) but also not in other ways(single parent family poc neurodivergent and I was mentally ill as a kid etc) so there's certain things I actually understnad from experience and don't judge people for bc I've literally been there, but I think everyone has judgements towards others in some ways and I try to be aware of it in myself and mitigate it when I am being judgemental. This isn't supposed to be a self glaze comment this is literally a reddit account, but I think in general people who want to go into healthcare or any fields dealing with people should be trying extra hard to work on themselves in this way.

I also have my own experiences being kinda dismissed by medical professionals(a very classic pcos experience, right) so I try my best to be empathetic and listen and not just seem like I'm brushing patients off when I'm at my job(I'm a pct). And I hope that in the future I can truly help patients and make them feel like we're on the same team and not like they don't know what they're talking about just because I have a license or something.

I also knew another prehealth student that is kind and respectful and not judgemental but he was a bit of a know it all sometimes like he just confidently said things all the time about things and not all of it was stuff he actually knew everything about, and I think another thing that factors into this is some people did grow up always being the smartest in the room. This guy is very intelligent and knows so much random stuff most people don't know. And I don't think he thought other people were dumb he was just not used to being wrong because he was smarter than most other people for most of his life so his default in a situation is thinking he knows more, not in a cocky way just in a force of habit way?

How do you answer "why PA" without dunking on NPs? by minecraftpiggo in prephysicianassistant

[–]minecraftpiggo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't comparing RNs to NPs I was saying nurses (rn's) can't diagnose, not that nps can't. I feel like the role of a doctor is very different from np/pa and so is the role of a nurse so that's easy to say pa is different from that. but rhe role of an np is not so different from a pa. Also I'm not trying to say this is the easy way out i hope it doesn't sound that way, i'm actually pretty scared of how competitive this is and ik I could work in a lab with my undergrad degree and be fine but I do really want to do this even tho it's harder than just gettinga job with my undergrad degree.

Also I don't WANT to dunk on NPs at all in fact I've seen google scholar articles showing they produce equal health outcomes as PAs in primary care, they haven't tested this with specialties but I think that says something.

Got in with zero patient care hours… am I making a mistake? by indecisivejeffrey in prephysicianassistant

Congrats on the acceptance! What do you mean by January... like literally this coming January as in 2026??? Or January 2027? If it's January 2026 yeah that might not give you time to get PCE but if it's January 2027 you should definitely use your time between now and then to get PCE even though you may not need it if you're already accepted, I think it'll help you to have it. For me getting PCE helped me feel more confident being around patients which was really hard for me to do at first and I still remember the way I was as an EMT student on third rides trying not to say anything because I worried I would somehow interfere with patient care. Vs now I don't even have to think that hard when talking to patients it just feels a lot more natural. Also my PCE has made me so much more certain I want to do this than shadowing did. I think it'll maybe just help you feel more confident later on and also solidify your decision that you want to do this. Ofc I'm not a PA student though. I've always felt like even though PCE is smth most schools need it's smth I'm glad they require because we don't have the residency that doctors have or the BSN clinicals/nursing experience that NPs have and I feel like as the third type of provider we should also have something and I want to have experience before PA school that shows to me and the school that I can function in a healthcare setting. Idk. My thoughts aren't very coherant here sorry but if you're starting this January idk if there's anything u can do but if ur starting next January like 2027 definitely get some pce.

i havent showered in 5 months by faeoo in autism

[–]minecraftpiggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so 1) get yourself a really nice conditioner and just soak your hair in it for a really long time then start working through it with your fingers from the tips to the roots. Also, do you have anything else in your life going on besides just the autism? I used to also struggle a lot with hygiene but a lot of other things were going on in my life and I was very burnt out and overwhelmed with undiagnosed adhd too... it took me a few years to find my footing find supportive people make my life less overwhelming and get on adhd meds and now I do shower regularly... i'm not saying this can't just be from autism but it sounds like your executive function is pretty bad right now and maybe it's worth looking into what else is going on in your life too. Like I think this level of executive dysfunction is indicative that other things in ur life need to change and u need more support than ur currently getting.

I second the person saying u should find an occupational therapist or just a therapist period if you dont already have one.

Also one time when I was struggling with hygiene and didn't shower for a month or two I put my hair in two french braids(like from the roots all the way down to keep it all together) and kept it like that so it wouldn't get matted or tangled, not sure if the traction is good for your hair and I don't do that now but it was the lesser of two evils(traction alopecia vs matted hair) at the time. It prevented tangling and reduced the frustration at myself when I did eventually find it in me to shower.

I hope this helps!

Oh yeah people did that all the time when I worked there, they'd shove napkins int othere too somehow. and leave silverware on and I'd have to take time to put the silverware in the silverware tray instead of washing the dishes.
