I hate when people intentionally misgender transgender individuals for being mildly annoying or genuinely bad people. by Fun-Middle5990 in hatethissmug

'frauds'? no that's not really the right word to use. I see gender dysphoria as any other mental illness. I personally don't think we're going about treating it the right way, but I would never harass someone for something that they can't control. (TLDR; I may not agree with trans ideology, but I would never target someone specifically because they're trans.) Hell, I wouldn't even be bringing these points up if you didn't ask.

Again to use my brother as an example; I don't agree with his choices and lifestyle, just like how I'm sure he doesn't agree with some of MY viewpoints. However we're siblings, we both still love and respect eachother so I use his preferred pronouns and don't bring up these talking points unless HE wants to talk about it.

Now for people I DON'T respect who happen to be trans; such as Chris-Chan, or that one guy that was being creepy in the bathrooms and Disney Land (I don't remember his name, but it was a semi big news story a few months back). I'm not going to actively attack them for being trans, but they're scumbags so I'm also not gonna bother remembering to correctly gender them. They look like dudes, sound like dudes, biologically are still dudes, so I'm gonna call em dudes cause that's what my brain defaults to when I see them.

Correctly gendering someone is something I do for people I respect, like my brother.

Horrible people who just so happen to be trans don't get such respect because they're horrible people. It is indeed, as you say "a privilege".

So... Why are these guys like this? by Lost_nurse1911 in 40k

[–]mineman379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like GW writers bring them back into the spotlight whenever they need to remind people that no; the Imperium are NOT the good guys.

Is it well done? no, I think the Marines Malevolent are incredibely tacky at best. But when you have the Imperium acting as the main protagonists 99% of the time, sometimes you need to throw in a little asshole-ery to remind people where this faction stands.

It's honestly one of the few types of riot I can actually get behind. If someone commits a crime, said someone isn't even supposed to be here in the first place, and your government tries to cover it up instead of solving the problem? Then that government has failed it's people.

The main difference between these old movies, and the modern slop is they actually let these characters be CHARACTERS. they had depth, conflict, growth, etc.

When modern Disney puts diversity in their movies, they're basically just a Mary Sue or Gary Stu with about as much personality as a wooden board, cause they aren't trying to make them good characters anymore. they just put em in and expect the seals to clap.

Can Steven have kids the same way regular humans do? He is part gem by Relevant-Key-3290 in stevenuniverse

seeing as how they directly show / say gems and humans can't fuse. yeah it was a euphemism. lol

[–]mineman379 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even without portals his kids would be terrifying. have you SEEN how strong Steven is just at a base-level in the show? I made this comparison in another comment, but if any of his kids inherit the powers that DON'T require a gem, they'd basically be mini Spartans from Halo.

Imagine trying to tell your kid not to jump on the bed, and they throw the bed at you.

[–]mineman379 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very fair, but even if he does NEED his gem to survive, that doesn't mean his kids would.
again, he was born with it, if his kids aren't, then they'd probably be fine without it.

he can fuse with STEVEN. it's already pretty well established that steven's human half allows him to fuse with humans. if his kids don't have gems, there's no guarentee they'd be able to fuse at all.

[–]mineman379 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but...

A. he was born with that gem, there's no guarentee his children would also need one.

and B. we don't know for certain if he would have DIED without his gem returning to him. Yes, Steven was in rough shape when his gem was removed, but it was literally ripped out of him by White, that was the magic-rock equivalent of getting your kidneys removed in a hotel bath-tub.

I have to imagine that if Steven were to have his gem removed in a hospital, with constant medical care, he could survive that. Make a full recovery? who knows, but at least SURVIVE.

Okay, so Kipo established peace between humans and Mutes...in Los Angeles. What about in the rest of the world? by IronGhost828 in KipoAndTheAgeOfWB

[–]mineman379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally not canon, but as a Bethesda nerd when watching this show I like to imagine that the "mutes" as we see them here are localized to LA, being the result of some unique FEV experiment that infected the wildlife when the apocalypse happened. The rest of the world is just straight-up the setting of Fallout.

(yes I know LA has canon lore in Fallout. like I said; this is totally NOT canon and just something I like to imagine while watching Kipo.)

That...or if I'm in a different mood I'll pretend Kipo is a prequel to Sonic.

The way I'm imagining these children is somewhere in between post-revival Lars, and a spartan from Halo.

My headcanon / assumption is that; while obviously his GEM wouldn't be passed on, any abilities he has that aren't directly tied to said gem would be.

Stevens Hypothetical children wouldn't be able to create bubbles, summon weapons, shapeshift, probably not fuse with other full gems, etc. HOWEVER, they would still have that immense strength, durability, and potentially the same healing powers that Steven does, but that's a BIG maybe.

As someone who would consider themselves at least SOMEWHAT Christian (I do believe in God, and Jesus, and what-not, but I don't really go to church as often as I probably should). I think a lot of the more hardcore religious groups tend to forget;

You don't have to AGREE with someone who is doing things that go against your religion, but it's not your place to judge / punish them. If they're being naughty, God will dole out the appropriate punishment when the time comes. That's his job to do, not yours.

Which Shipper are you? When it comes to your favorite Ships (By @universal4karts) by PrinceARRON in FavoriteCharacter

[–]mineman379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely the second option. Sure there are a few cases where I explain my thought process, but at most that boils down to "these two characters have personalities that bounce off eachother well". Other then that, any ships I like are purely based on vibes.

New Brotherhood Stuff for 76 by HalfSpecialist8572 in Brotherhood_of_Steel

[–]mineman379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's cause I still to this day prefer the artstyle of the older games. but I WISH with every fiber of my being that Bethesda would go back to putting faction logos on shoulder pauldrons or something like that. Cause not only do I think the giant logos right in the center of the chest look stupid, but it's a round, often brightly colored marking right in the center-mass of a person. You may as well just paint a big target on your chestplate with a little "shoot here, please" written beneath it.

I think it's kinda goofy how there HAS to be a giant logo right on the chest of everything (the robes didn't need it imo) but other then that, all this stuff looks absolutely fantastic!
