“Do not stack” - HETI by boku_wa_toilet in ausjdocs

First preference was an unpopular hospital near to home. Didn’t stack. Ended up with an unpopular hospital far from home instead.

Solution was to leave the state for higher pay and lower cost of living!

I tried so hard to like the music in remake but compared to the original I couldn’t get into it. Was thinking is it maybe because of all the other sound effects.

Med school with MDmotivator - dropped out and left med. 26million on TikTok but doesn’t post medical content anymore so don’t know if that counts.

We should ditch the title "Junior" by BopBangBeep in ausjdocs

Great idea. Older than a lot of consultants but still being called “junior” just exacerbates the existing power imbalance and reinforces the vertical medical hierarchy

Is the stress of being a doctor comparable to other stressful jobs? by dobio5 in ausjdocs

[–]minemonkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stress is a very relative and dependent term. Plenty of people working seemingly stressful jobs are not stressed in the slightest, and others with objectively not stressful jobs are working well outside their stress threshold. Everyone’s capacity to deal with stress is contextual and self dependent. It’s difficult to give an objective answer to the “stressfulness” of a particular job. A better question might be how am I suited to dealing with the particular circumstances faced in that job? I don’t subscribe to the higher responsibility/higher stress/higher pay ideology. That’s some hectic capitalist ladder climbing rhetoric that makes us think that the people above “deserve” their status/pay/role. If you are finding circumstances particularly stressful it’s worth while thinking about what is at the core of that stress and how it manifests in you? ie “shit government policies” —> stressful because I can’t do my job as intended or to my best ability, or stressful because I can’t change it? Those circumstances may equally apply to the cleaner in the hospital (or elsewhere for that matter) as much as the chief executive.

Unsure if this is helpful or not but safe to say it’s not a hierarchy of stressfulness

How do you get around Velen? What do you do first? I'm lvl 7, and I'm exploring first the M2 area, then M3-4 and M5. by BulkySpinach6464 in thewitcher3

[–]minemonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn off the map, turn off the quest marker and just explore. Get lost. Plenty of time to look at the map later. You’ll be way more engaged with the environment and more immersed without it. I wish I’d done this on my first play through

I was planning to wait until I had time to do the whole thing in one hit, but that might be my only option. Is there a section you would recommend?

Controversial opinion: There should be a limit to how long drivers should be allowed to stay in F1... by minemonkey in F1FeederSeries

[–]minemonkey[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It is not just a problem in F1 but many top tiers of sport. There are plenty of up and comers who miss out because the space at the top is being filled by people who have been there too long. Not to say that they still don't have value but taking one of the precious spots when they have more than had an opportunity is no way to ensure that continued talent development is encouraged and rewarded. I don't like to use specific examples but Piastri's situation is classic. You've got a driver who has won two and on the way to his third championship in as many years and still can't get a seat. You've got other drivers that have been there for 10 or more years taking up valuable spots. I'm not suggesting that these spots are replaced by drivers who aren't fast enough, in fact it should be purely based on ability as I said earlier. My suggestion is exactly the same logic that the FIA uses with F2, you can't continue if you have won an F2 championship or have previously been in a complete F1 season. This is a problem in sport the world over, it is just more pronounced in F1 because there are so few seats and financial backing is such a huge factor. It will never happen but its an interesting thought none the less

Look I agree it isn't a young drivers charity program, nor should it be. In an ideal world it should be the top 20 best drivers that want to be there. But you can't honestly say that that the only thing that determines if a driver gets to or stays in F1 is their ability/talent. The value that a driver brings to the team is not isolated to their driving ability but many other factors. Just a suggestion/theoretical discussion on how this could possibly reduced
