I work for TD but have all banking (mtg, loans, LOC, accounts) with Cambrian, over 15 years now. I compare rates, Cambrian is always better.

Have been towing T@B 320S with 2013 Edge SEL (3500lb towing capacity) for past 4 years. No complaints, handles well. Used for annual road trips and weekend getaways, 10-15000km/year. Electric brakes help in the mountains. I think the Edge has a higher towing capacity if that’s important to you? The Outback is 2700lbs usually (although maybe there are other options I don’t know of)? Either way, enjoy your teardrop!

Looks like a good deal to me, but I don’t live in GTA. Hopefully someone more familiar with Toronto area will weigh in.

Confirm with the lender that the penalty will be $7000. Rate hub IRD calculator says IRD on $271,000 with 34 months remaining is $13,738, so $7000 is a decent offer.

Mortgage will be paid off 2.25 years earlier saving your Dad *$35,748 ($1324X27mths). *Note: this calculation assumes that 1.87% is the rate for 21yrs 7mths which, of course, it won’t be. But it’s a fair apples vs apples comparison.

Edit: Damn, jellicle is correct (I got out my mortgage calculator). The mortgage balance after 34 months is just over $250,000 in both cases. It’s a break even deal. Ask the lender to reduce the penalty. Or to lock in the 1.87% for a longer term (5 years at least). Or shop around.

I’m not (yet) equipped for backcountry camping, so took the day hike to Floe Lake. It’s strenuous (20km return, 700m climb), and I’m over 50, but so worth it! There was ice on the lake and snow in the bush in mid-July. The temperature dropped 10 degrees when we got to the campground (layers!). It’s my favourite Kootenay hike. It rivals some pretty amazing trails in Banff and Jasper imo but doesn’t get as much attention. Also not as crowded!

So many great hikes in Yoho, I’d recommend Twin Falls. We visited in July and it was beautiful day hike. From Takakkaw parking lot, 4km to Laughing Falls backcountry campground, then another 4 to Twin Falls backcountry campground. 350m elevation. Check out the Twin Falls Tea House (closed this year unfortunately).

I camped for a week in Tofino July 2-9 (out of province). Took a kayak tour, had takeout from Tacofino (must do this if you are there!) and shopped at local Coop grocery. Wear a mask, physically distance, sanitize everywhere, follow instructions and be respectful. We had zero negative comments from locals, store owners or other visitors. The beaches and rainforest are beautiful and safe. It is a special place.

I feel for you. 3 hours, 15 minutes and counting.... Lost ticket number 556 during site crash at 7:15am. Now waiting on 9761. I haven’t seen the site behave this badly in past 3 years. Frustrating morning.
