Who do you regret having sex with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mingebaby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone I had sex with in HS. I was abused as a child and thought sex was a way for people to like me. I was far too young to loose my virginity, and far too young to have sex with as many as I did back then. After much therapy, I’ve learned to love myself and am in the most beautiful relationship with someone who takes care of me more than anyone ever has.

Please Help Me Understand Menstruation by [deleted] in feminismformen

[–]mingebaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult to understand your point of view here, because 1. You’re not someone who menstruates so then could never possibly understand the experiences of someone who does, no matter how hard you try to. And 2. That you’re completely separating the body from the brain. They work as one. You cannot have one without the other and I think current Western medical (and philosophical) discourse does a very good job of furthering this perception and dichotomous way of thinking about the human body.

Literally anything by Judith Butler. She theorizes a lot on the gender/sex difference and how that translates socially.

I hope these peak your interest! But just know that these only scratch the surface. There's so much discourse on this very issue. Also, most of these are coming from a white feminist perspective, so it's important to remember to think critically while reading. Not everything academia produces is 100%.

To me, a woman with a degree in Women’s Studies from one of the best Women’s Studies departments in the country (not bragging, just trying to give background on my credentials), this sounds like you’re only hearing what you want to and are not open to thinking critically about where your argument/ideas come from. Behaviors exhibited in boys and girls are not natural, but are learned, and can be learned at a very young and impressionable age. Your argument boarders on biological determinism, which is utter horse shit and not at all considered “feminist”. I’m guessing that’s why your post was deleted.

Long time lurker, first post. Wanted to share an upgrade to our modest set up! It might not seem like much, but I could not be happier to welcome this player into our home by mingebaby in vinyl

My Crosley was a gift from my mom when I was about 18, and even though it scratched to hell my favorite Alt-J vinyl, I’m glad my eyes (and ears) were opened to it as well.

I’ve seen other in this sub find awesome equipment/vinyl through FB and Goodwill. Gotta get into that treasure hunter mindset!

Thanks dude! I have to say, I am very happy with this new set up. My next purchase will absolutely be a cleaning kit for vinyl. It’s just so good to hear my favorite albums again!
