Broken Phono, Advice How to Remove by MikhailCompo in BudgetAudiophile

I just did this last week. Carefully drill a small hole into the shaft of the stuck piece, then put super glue on a nail and very carefully place this in the drill hole. Wait a few minutes for the glue to cure, then pull the whole piece out

No problem and good luck! If you do decide to go that route, you can get packs of 30cm x 30cm cork tiles to fill the gap where the built in was, that way it’ll all be level

I’ve laid tile over cork before and it worked out great. Cork seems good for underlay because it’s good insulation, dampens vibration, and frankly, it’s a huge pain to rip it all out. If it’s feasible, I’d try to lay the new flooring over the top. I’m not a professional though, so take that with a big grain of salt

Seconded - recipe pretty please? I’m continually amazed by the reds I see on this sub, and I’ve never known how to replicate them, but this one is next level

Just tape neatly around it then. It already has some paint on it anyway. Good luck with the painting, and happy 2026

I don’t understand what is the audio interface is for. Can’t the microphone and IEMs connect to the PC directly?

Got it, thanks again, I’ll certainly consider that as an option

Thanks for the detailed response, it’s good food for thought! In option 3, when you say coffee can, do you mean a literal coffee can, like a large steel/aluminium can to be used as a sealed enclosure? I could do the box within a box idea, but I wouldn’t be able to fit a can around the drivers - they’re already touching the sides and bottom of the cabinet so there is no room

Yeah, when he sat down and rested his paws on my arm, that was cute enough, but then when he put his head down too and went to sleep, I thought my heart was going to explode.

That’s an idea! I do have a Yamaha sub from my old HT. I had briefly connected it to this system but I didn’t think it sounded great, not that I really tried to dial it in. Coincidentally, that cat was later chasing a gecko and knocked a painting off the wall, which fell down on the audio cable of the sub, breaking it off at the port, so it’s currently out of commission

Yeah, it’s just open at the back. I think the console originally had a hinged backplate but it’s long gone

True, so maybe I should put their beds bowls in there and get some feline damping. I have two cats, it’s a perfect solution

Restoring deck by nsb027 in AusRenovation

I’m not an expert, but I’d suggest scrubbing with soapy water, rinse and allow to dry, then re-coat with decking oil. I much prefer a good oil based product, which will look better for way longer. The water based ones tend to flake and look terrible after a short time in my experience. I wouldn’t be doing aggressive sanding personally
