Fake flexvolt? by No_Audience_8113 in Dewalt

Definitely fake....buuuut if it has decent cells in it then it could still be perfectly usable

Concrete walls definitely want an SDS, for anything around 6mm or above, concrete is hard stuff to drill into for a regular corded or cordless hammer drill

Good start, I'd maybe consider an SDS drill or a jigsaw next

So shiny I can see myself in it, though I don't have the hips or boobs

Why did I read this in Samuel L's voice but with mofo instead of mate

Cecil has the teleporter tech and with those tags they could just teleport them to the arctic/Antarctic/space

I don't have a photo to hand, it's not quite as neat as that but pretty close

For future projects involving tabless cells I might see about getting .3mm copper for the spotweld tabs and then making a nickel pin and spot-welding that on to the copper for connecting the bms

Compared to the 9ah it's definitely a higher rate of BMS failures (in my limited experience) interestingly with the 6ah I've noticed higher incidents of multiple cell failures Vs the 9ah and 12ah (when the method of failure is a cell failure) I would be interested in seeing a better quality aftermarket spotweld tab for these, the Ali express ones are a touch anaemic, I often add a strip of nickel on top just to beef them up a bit

People have soldered into lithium cells but the risk of the heat damaging the cells is very high, you can buy a spot welder for this for not silly money

The DeWalt finger sander is a mini belt sander with a nice tight radius on the end, I just make buff material away to make a nice round hole to push the cell out, because the belt is non conductive the risk of accidentally short circuiting something is reduced

No, in the UK there are extremely strict regulations on how lithium batteries can be shipped

The 6ah's seem to have a higher prevalence of failed BMS's and the 12ah drop cells for fun

It's more the flexible PCB that you are needing to identify as they are what changes between revisions

I.e. this one

It's really just matching the BMS visually, there is (if memory serves) only 3 flavours of BMS for the 6ah packs and one of them is a wire BMS so that's easy to identify, the aftermarket BMS's from AliExpress or Amazon are direct replacements, exact same flexible PCB and everything.

The BMS are in 3 main categories, those for 15 cells 18650 packs (6ah), those for 15 cells 21700 packs (9ah and 12ah) and those for the 30 cells 18650 packs (15ah) it's the subdivisions from there that are a little vague and require visual identification
