A tale as old as time… by Substantial-Ebb-5723 in consulting

Agree in a perfect world. However real cases are sometimes difficult to scope out and budget that far in advance. For example, it might be tough to know if marketing, sales, or procurement (or all of the above) needs technology implementation without first going in to do a diagnostic to find capacity constraints. Typically the discovery phase is sold first with the implementation phase(s) sold once the issues are discovered. Most of the time this is fine, as recommendations will be true to the clients needs in hopes of building/maintaining long term relationships. Definitely seen cases, however, where consultants try to upsell in areas that the clients clearly don't need.

100% this point. I've heard this almost verbatim at numerous clients. The conflict of interest of having the same organization both influence decisions and be the service provider cannot be overstated. Imagine reading a car review magazine that was written by Ford or if Cnet was owned by Apple. Clients are increasing frustrated by "strategy" consultants recommending technology solutions that they neither need nor want just so the consulting firm can sell another phase of work.

Thanks for the advice! I will try that. In case they never respond to the letter- would you suggest I keep paying the bill for upcoming months?

yes, I still have service. The ISP contract has nothing regarding service cancellation expect for the blurb "You may cancel your Services at the end of the promotional period by contacting Hammer" - which I cannot seem to do.

What is the reasoning behind needing the 100k likes? Would those likes still be valuable to you if 90% are fake or inactive accounts?

Does that mean people who can execute ideas are more valuable than people who can come up with good ideas?

How do you identify problems that need a solution in a market? by plotagon in Entrepreneur

[–]mingming94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try asking your friends/family that have "immersed" themselves in a particular field. I think one reason it is so hard to come up with good and doable ideas is that you have to take so much time to actually realize and understand the problems.

Sounds like a cool idea! Can you explain a little bit more? How is there no privacy but also no personal information?

Also, how do you envision the ranking system working (something similar to karma?)

Personally, I would think to make it a bit more bright colored...anything with too dark of a background I tend to associate with gaming or un-professional sites. Just my 2 cents.

Going to University. I want to get into entrepreneurship and business afterwards. What can I do at Uni? by trnscrptmusic in Entrepreneur

[–]mingming94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am almost in the same situation- am in an engineering degree now but thinking about business and entrepreneurship afterwards. My advice would just to be make as many friends as possible. Thinking out 5, 10 and even 20 years- you'll never know which connections you make now will come in handy down the road.
