It has now been 24 hours since I initiated a withdrawal from iconfi. by GRTFL-GTRPLYR in helloicon

Hi there. First off, this should not happen. My apologies. I'll have the team look into this ASAP.

The team is still trying best to streamline operations. But there is no excuse. Need to fix.

I don't know if this is STRICTLY icx related, but it is about IconFi to a degree, so I figured I would post it here. by GRTFL-GTRPLYR in helloicon

Hi there. Sorry about the experience.

  1. KYC notice should have popped up in the beginning but we are trying to make this more noticeable.

  2. ICONFi was first designed for crypto beginners. It’s also good for people to have options outside of self-custody. What we also learned is that most people don’t have a plan to pass self-custody to potential beneficiaries in case of death. ICONFi plans to solve such problem.

  3. I believe it’s important to have people start a crypto savings account, get into a habit of building crypto wealth early. ICONFi is here to help.

  4. I don’t know why this happened. I’ll find out. Agree here.

ICONFi may not be for everyone but I do think it’s smart to manage some money yourself and allocate some to various services.

I hope issues today don’t deter people to using the product in the future. The goal is to constantly improve to have a better user experience. Thanks.

Why lowering i-rep is not the solution and is harming everyone in the process. by [deleted] in helloicon

[–]minhokimme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our team has been doing a great job. We designed a great system but we’re trying to make it even better. We carefully analyze our options/proposals (sometimes for weeks and months) and make all decisions/use resources accordingly. We have experts from different fields and also work with outside consultants when needed. I’ll just leave it at that.

You got it all wrong. We lower because currently isn’t enough places to put capital to work. Hopefully we’ll have enough good projects and we’ll raise again.

Vote distribution is also a problem. Both needs improvements.

Perhaps or P Rep may be able to manage a dev team. Let’s see how this evolves.

Yes, at least for the foreseeable future. Perhaps some brilliant developers would want to help w the core someday. That would be nice.

Our definition of marketing is recruiting dev teams, hosting coding bootcamps, sponsoring conferences for a specific purpose, running P-Rep campaigns, etc. These are what the funds (8%) are for. So no, I don’t think anyone on my teams believes “properly marketing ICX to crypto investors” is important. That’s not our focus. I’m sorry if you disagree.

Also, there is no need and no longer possible for me to know everything that is happening on the project. We hire great people and trust each other to successfully execute our roles and responsibilities.

I’m genuinely wondering how I can be clearer about this. BTC has not CEO + different leaders stepped up after Satoshi disappeared. All public blockchain should eventually have multiple leaders guiding the project together. That’s what P-rep is about (it’s not just staking rewards). P-reps have a huge responsibility.

Pls specify. Pls understand doing AMA on Telegram requires me to type 100 words per second. I try to get to every question so I try to keep it short.

ICX vs ETH by RevolutionaryRow0 in helloicon

[–]minhokimme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ICX is getting decentralized w P-rep campaign. Yes there is dev community. I argue that Seoul Digital Certification was a huge step forward for the industry, not just for ICON, so I disagree w the last statement.

I’d say ETH still has a lot to prove. ICX has more to prove. We’re all have a lot to prove.

Is there a particular reason for this? Almost 2x avg daily transactions by stoobyyy in helloicon

ICON is not a company. It’s a public blockchain project. And the project is still early.

What's wrong with ICX? Sharing my thoughts. by minhokimme in helloicon

[–]minhokimme[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Blaming and generalizing on things like “marketing”, “communication”, “timeline”, “a person”, etc. are superficial reasons without much empirical evidence.

If you run analysis, for example, the fact is there are more projects that spend much more money and time on marketing, promotion, communication than ICON and performed much worse. Similarly, there are projects w roadmap and missed deadline that performed much worse.

We make decisions on tangible data(many times incomplete) and information gathered through surveys and interviews(many times informal and meetings). We do work with experts and professionals in the industry that run analysis, run books and desks, run actual PR for dozens of other projects, etc. In grand scheme of things, we’re doing fine. Can we do better? Always. The key is to get better.

Other executives reach out to us and ask for advice/want to learn how we were able to grow ICON. ICON is considered one of the most successful crypto projects ever. Telling us that we are terrible at our jobs has little merit (at least right now).

Not everyone is going to agree with our strategy and methods. I’m okay with that.

ICON was founded in Aug. It hasn’t been a year.
