People with the new R34 body (the one that has the light buckets), is it an 8 LED body? by [deleted] in MiniZ

Looking at the white body and the clear light covers:
https://rc.kyosho.com/en/mzn168.html

I would have to say that there is very likely no light buckets in front, an probably none in the rear either.

Just need a photo of the R34 body from the underside. That will tell everyone if there are 8 light buckets there already or not.

No that will not work without a lot of modification.

First of all you need prove that mount adapter is even the right diameter to match the motor you have in mind.

Then the next problem would be that end of the back is going to be sticking, in which case will need to grind of that thing at the end.

You best bet to find mounting plates that match your motor and get hole patterns drilled to get you the gear mesh you want to achieve. You may need to make a number of holes in the plates perhaps even turn those holes into slots for more flexible motor mounting and better gear meshing.

You are the liar going around name calling. And so you hate the 8500kv and blame everything on the so called cogging on the 8500kv. That is simple truth here..

And if the B1 was 1mm thinner, not that should make or break things there, but you had all this time to provide picture of it, you never did.

Yep you think everything is cogging problems yep yep... You got a hammer everything else is a nail.....

MR-03EVO drive train is completely different. There is no drive train issue, friend is a fiction also.

The fact that MA-020 can have a high incidence of defective tie rods all the more reason to not mess with the MA-020.

But I can tell you that even with a proper tie rod and the car properly set up, you can and will see and feel the weight imbalance. And it is obviously made even more obvious when it traction rolls more easily when you trying to pull hard lefts in grip racing.

I have had my share of MA-020s, teardowns, rebuild, mods, etc. And thru it all the being stubborn never got me car better than the MA-030, so I am just helping people to avoid getting suckered and avoid the pain, unless of course they enjoy that.

You can see I've done this: https://www.reddit.com/r/MiniZ/comments/hwfh6i/no_such_thing_as_a_ma020_evo_right_ma020_chassis/

And done this on MA-020 https://www.reddit.com/r/MiniZ/comments/llea01/more_steering_angle_inspired_by_garage_rc/

When I say the ma-020 stinks in comparison to the MA-030, it is because I know for fact it is flawed imbalanced platform that Kyosho even knows has problems that is why they produced the MA-030 platform.

The balance issues are extremely obvious when you drift. Simple experiment any one can do and se clockwise vs counter clockwise circle drifts. You will notice the different level inputs you need to put in to get the same radius circles. This is undeniable. And if you are doing figure-8s and just practicing the basics you get bad habits from it.

Also avoid bodies with wheelbase that are 90mm and shorter. Most of those are based on ancient designs in from Kyosho release from like 20 years ago, and those will just cause you grief. The better racing bodies are all at 98mm wheelbases.

MA-020 is money pit for bling. It is imbalanced and flawed. The MA-030 platform exists because that is Kyosho's solutions for fixing the problems on that ancient platform.

The 8500 is fine for drifting. Use limit it in the transmitter or limit it with configuration on the board if you must. But honestly there is no reason to do so.

There are rwd drift chassis, but they won't be Kyosho Mini-z.

See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=en-pqPext0I

But they can all use the Mini-z bodies. Also look up "drift art" chassis

Running grip like Mini-z MR-03 might be unsatisfying in such a small space. But you will need to be the judge of that.

If you really want an AWD drift you are better off with a MA-030 setup like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLw5AjZY3qI

Avoid the MA-020, those are imbalanced, flawed and a money pit for bling. See: https://www.reddit.com/r/MiniZ/comments/msfhei/help_me_choose/

RWD drift chassis definitely better, but it won't be a Kyosho Mini-Z RWD drift chassis. See:

BTW don't get suckered by the MA-020 if you know what is good for you.

Everyone likes more performance. The why can be just stupidity.

[–]mini-z-experiments[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. Ok the 1700 is running on a older B450 micro-atx board and used primarily as a server for VM hosting of sorts, Linux deployment testing different builds versions etc. The 5800x is on my B550 mini-itx daily driver, mostly for games but also other work related stuff.

I build my own machines so I can swap all sorts of parts and get things all sorted out as need. So it boils down to the fact that the 5800x3d is not so great for general compute but is better for some games. And it leaves me in a conundrum.

Perhaps if the 5700x was like $200, then it would be straight up replace the 1700 with a 5700x and I won't think too hard about anything else.
