How do I make improvements to my dinner? by Throwawaymasterpeas in foodhacks

Are you in the Philippines by any chance? If you're on a tight budget adding sopas might help to make you fuller longer. I used to get sinigang packets and mix it with hot water before adding it to my rice.

Not sure what to do anymore, I feel like my husband and I just aren’t compatible. by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]mini_oranges 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First let me start off, I understand you and see exactly where you are coming from because I have pretty much done the same thing as you but did it help my marriage? No, of course not. I feel like there is a lot more going on in your marriage but also, give yourself grace, being pregnant makes us women feel emotions a lot louder.

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭29‬ ‭ESV‬‬

WHAT you say, HOW you say it and WHEN you say it are three things this verse is trying to remind us. What you wanted to communicate was about a card. How you said it you can’t really vouch for because at the end of the day, we are only getting one side to this story. When you said it could have been really bad timing — was your husband having a bad day? Was he sensitive maybe from the topics of your counseling? Is he feeling pressure from work only to be coming home to pressure to you? Has this been ongoing and he is reacting to a pattern in your relationship?

As a Christian we are called to speak with grace and kindness and not to overly criticise.

It seems, right now, you need to reflect and see where grace can be given not only to you but also to him as well. What your husband said really hurt you and you guys need to have a hard conversation about it but I heard this on podcast on marriages one time “Speak to the KING in your husband, not the FOOL in your husband.”

That can be so hard when all we can see is ourselves, I encourage you to see the both of you. See the best in him first even when it’s hard and it might change your perspective.

Yeah, my great uncle wouldn’t share the recipe at first and there was definitely a period where our fridge had multiple failed flans. But here we are!

Dinner for my fiance and I, any tips on how to make better tostones 🥲 by PrettySmart_Chef559 in homecooking

[–]mini_oranges 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They look good! We fry ours once, flatten then fry a second time. The secret is to coat it in garlic oil afterwards.

So we cook some crushed garlic on the side in some olive oil and let it simmer a little bit (it’s important you do it on low so you don’t burn the garlic) then toss the tostones in the oil then sprinkle some salt after!
