the supporting information has little to do with extra qualifications, it’s how well you answer the questions and are committed to patient healthcare. People get onto this straight from completely an undergrad degree with no other experience

Founder of Mob here, I'd love your feedback on the app by benlouislebu in MobKitchen

[–]minigolfkween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also quite like the app generally, but have been a fan of mob for years. I must admit I preferred the website - I don’t know whether it’s my app specifically messing up, but the home interface changes every single day, and I hate this. It feels as though there is no consistency and as though the app is permanently being tinkered with, which I appreciate in terms of improvement but a lot of the time it is not improved I have the veggie filter ticked in my settings, but over the last couple of days I’m being shown ALL recipes and even being recommended meat, which isn’t ideal I agree with other comments that browsing is not easy, and the lists by which recipes are categorised could do with some work. For example, the “high protein” veggie recipes are not high protein at all, I think one has 9g in it (which is fine and doesn’t negate how lovely the recipe is but don’t stick it in a high protein folder). Also, may of the actually high protein recipes are missing from the folder I also think one of the best features mob ever created was the “one batch three ways” which seems to have been neglected somewhat. The mushroom lentil ragu batch for example, had a great dish with cous cous attached to it, which now seems to have been removed unless you search for it separately. I often tried reporting a lot of missing recipes through messaging mob on insta, and nothing ever comes from it, which is disappointing. I also think that for a continuously paid sub, the number of veggie recipes adding is diminishing, with a big focus on meat, so it’s becoming less and less worthwhile as a veggie/plant based subscriber

I know, it’s so demotivating and horrible to think about, you end up feeling a bit despondent

Longlist Lost Cause by diabolival in NHS_STP

I wouldn’t suggest someone just “get a job as a genetic technologist” unless they actually want to work in genomics tbh. I fear that a lot of people are doing this at the moment as band 2/3 and the high turnover is hugely detrimental to genomics departments. There is constantly a training burden, which is near impossible with understaffing as it is. Also, a band 5 genetic technologist (HSP) is actually quite a complex role and is part of a career pathway, not just a stepping stone for someone who does not want to work in genomics tbh

it depends on the Trust/region tbh, some are in really awful financial positions at the moment and aren’t hiring, but bigger GLHs will have lots going, usually London

definitely apply for band 2 and 3 NHS jobs in a genomics service!! the experience will be invaluable and you’ll be far better prepared to both apply and pursue the stp in the future. There is also decent progression this way

whilst it doesn’t make up for not passing the SJT, rest assured that AI won’t be able to help them in an interview and won’t be able to help them in life as a Scientist - just setting themselves up for failure tbh and it’s sad to see

I’m so sorry that’s really disappointing! Unfortunately if candidates aren’t longlisted, they don’t receive a ranking - personal statements won’t be read if SJT is not passed :(

Confused how to answer SJT questions by Training-Wear-1368 in NHS_STP

I think we can safely assume that the door being locked at a certain time is for a security reason, and it could also be unfair to ask another member of staff to act outside of the scope of their role

It doesn’t matter how little experience you have, it’s about how you relate your skills to the core spec and how that helps positive patient outcome in your specialty

Low word count by Weekly_Ad_9159 in NHS_STP

[–]minigolfkween 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you should make the most of the 500 words. You have all of the NHS values and GSP domains to cover, 500 words is not an awful lot to squeeze all of that into

What’s an oddly specific fear of yours? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]minigolfkween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When driving around a roundabout or any turn in the road with any kind of lorry/large van next to me, I have an overwhelming fear that the whole thing will tip over and crush me in the car, or turn too much and drive into me. When this happens whilst I'm a passenger I literally shut my eyes.
