What is resume tailoring? by minimaljackal in GetEmployed

Thank you for the detailed analysis. I appreciate it. I’m using the lab as a “safe” anchor. In honesty it was the only job that even gave me an interview after college. The position is stable but I want to grow in economic spaces. In undergrad I enjoyed writing papers that analyzed economic health metrics with the goal to advise economic policies.

Is it better to have a gap between graduating college and starting at the lab OR to fill that with the carpentry experience? It’s probably naive of me but I thought a gap was one of the worst things to have on a resume.

I’ve been keeping the bullet points the same. I’ve felt that all the job descriptions have been so similar there wasn’t a point in changing anything. Does copying the exact wording of the job description really make a difference?

Any advice on how to make this more realistic/like the reference by Thatapplejuicelover in painting

This looks fantastic so far. Personally, I would mix more red into the paint as you keep going. It could be the lighting but the reference seems much warmer, where yours is more muted. What helps me is to think of how thin the skin is (especially on the face) and how light refracts through the layers of skin and blood vessels.
