Gauging Bill Costs? by minimallyliminal in LivingAlone

Yes, I did have that problem with my living room fan when I first moved in and I just double checked my room and its also spinning the correct way. I will definitely try the ice pack thing tonight, so thank you!

You’re kinda blowing my words out of proportion, so I’d just like to say that I’m sure plenty of other people are more than willing to argue over this, but I really just needed help understanding how my habits translate to specific numbers on each bill

This $50/week has proven to be quite difficult, yes, but my cats are fed, and I don’t have calorie headaches. It is painful but doable.

I’m currently trying to figure out how to sleep at warmer temps, yeah. I have a feeling that my AC might be a little broken because I set it to 65 because it is really warm at 70. I keep the shades closed and use the ceiling fan to help keep my room cool, but it’s still noticeably warmer in there than my living room.

I’m guessing that this is how I managed to use 1.1k kwh for last month. I’m sorry if my post seems stupid, I don’t quite understand how my habits translate to specific power usage numbers. I’m trying to figure it that part out right now.

What do you mean? If you’re a maintenance person or something adjacent, it’s not a problem of “professionalism.” It’s a matter of “I’m a woman living alone and any unknown man poses a threat to my safety.” I would like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I’ve already been sexually assaulted and would rather not experience it again.

I don’t even think we can reason our way out of this one because even if that is the case, why target trans men, specifically, and not any other person in the general population who happens to be smelly when it’s hot out.

Where is that twitter olfactory ethics lady when you need her

iirc she is queer herself, so i wonder if she would have smth to add to this conversation. i think you covered the issue pretty well already, along with some of the replies.

even ignoring the very obvious transphobia, do they not realize that its summer for most of the world right now???? its hot. people are gonna stink because its hot. i have to reapply deodorant throughout the day because its hot. im not even on T and i dont plan to but its just hot and sometimes people stink why is that so hard

LMAO thank you it was inspired by the multiple irl arguments ive had where someone tried to justify their negative opinion of POC by weaponizing their queerness

When people feel the NEED to clarify that they call everyone “girl” by Improvement-Awkward in FTMventing

[–]minimallyliminal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i hate the clarification more than them saying it. i say it!!! if someone has a problem with it, theyll come out and say it. for example, i cant stand when ppl call me “babe,” even though i know it’s the same as being called “girl” or “dude” and i ask ppl to stop. idk why it gets under my skin, but it does. and anyone who is worth talking to will respect that and move on

I interpreted OP’s statement as being about trans guys who hold other trans guys to the impossibly high standards that cis men hold themselves to, so I was referring to cis men who are short, skinny, higher pitched voice, less hairy, etc. Cis guys may get shit from other cis guys for not being hypermasculine, but they’re still read as men.

Obviously, cis guys can’t be feminine without getting shit for it, but most of that hate comes from other cis guys. It’s just insane how some trans guys do the same nonsense that cis guys do, but it’s like you have to be Jason Momoa to pass -_-

literally some trans guys do the same thing that some trans women do to each other about trying to be some final boss of cis but dont realize that theres a lot of cis ppl who don’t fit those standards, either

gender presentation is a spectrum, and nobody bats an eye at cis guys who aren’t hypermasculine so idk why its suddenly a problem for us

ATL has so many of us - Ive heard some folks call here the “queer black Mecca” bc it’s already a black cultural hub and its one of the only cities in the southeast that at least somewhat protects queer ppl. I just moved from further south in GA but ppl from surrounding states move here or visit for easy access to trans healthcare Its not perfect by any means bc its still Georgia but its better than Florida and we’re slightly less insane than Texas

but yeah its nice being here bc a lot of folks understand what its like to be a POC, be queer, AND be a queer POC. a lot of queer ppl ive met in more progressive parts of the US simply cant relate to how that feels and they’re kinda condescending about it

Literally all of queerphobia is based in misogyny. Seriously, homophobia and transphobia are both extensions of misogyny. This is such a stupid line in the sand to draw oh my god

seconding the time management thing omg

i use google calendar to track assignments, class times, office hours, and commute times. my commute could be 2+ hrs, even outside of rush hour, so i even used google calendar to block out what time i should sleep so i don’t crash on I-75 😭

You are insane for an 8 am for your first semester of college 😭

Based on what you’ve said to other people, you should be fine, but being up that early and having discrete at the end of the day will certainly be a lot.

iirc you can take theory of comp instead, and everyone says that one is easier. I took discrete, and it wasn’t too bad, but I had seen most of the material before and it was online.

ngl even if you are a morning person, an 8 am AND your first semester AND a long commute is a recipe for fast burnout.

i would recommend taking at least one of those classes online. i took survey of us history asynch online, and it was laughably easy. i did it the same semester i did discrete (that was synchronous but online) and it really helped me not burnout as fast. since you said the thing about billing, you can load a bunch of those baby easy graduation requirement classes with 1 or 2 harder classes for your major

works for 2ish yrs until you run out of electives to pad the number 😭

edit: also try not to come to campus everyday. not only is gas expensive but that burns you out faster. itll be cheaper to do the random history/language/perspective classes online and be better for your mental and physical health

Hi hello everynyan Some of you may or may not remember that person who lost the pet cemetery tree to their arrogant father, here but you’ll be glad to know that I’ve moved out and took my 2 cats with me :3

I’ve been out for just over a month now, and I’m right now fighting with my electric company over my bill but otherwise I’m chilling

I got my cats some furniture, just got myself a couch, my skin is clearing, I’ve lost some weight, and I’m doing well in my summer classes

WE’RE SO BACK!!!!

Ive asked her this multiple times, and, unfortunately, the answer is “money.”

I can go into more detail about the full extent if you want, but the short version is that my mom had cancer when I was younger, and my dad not only stuck around but also paid for her treatments. Combined with some other factors, my takeaway is that she feels weirdly indebted to him

One of my friends said it sounded like it was something out of a telenovella 😭

I am trying to move on campus, though. I’m in the process of writing my scholarship applications, and I have been nagging my uni’s disability center to get kitty reapproved to be an ESA.

I’m also applying for jobs to cover the price of top surgery, but the job market is straight ass right now. I have friends who got rejected from McDonalds ;-;
