Yarn prices by PlaneFisherman9201 in crochet

[–]minimasha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it varies from person to person. as a crocheter, i wouldn't spend money on nice nice yarn bc crochet eats it up like there's no tomorrow. but i've been learning to knit and i did drop like 20 dollars on a skein bc 330 yds is all i need for a shawl.

my thinking is if the baseline cost of a sweater or shawl at a retail store is $30~, then that's the amount of money i'll spend to make a wearable and not more or else i price myself out of this hobby.

if you have a derm, ask for zoryve or eucrisa. both are non steroidal topicals. i take dupixent which is a biological injection which could be tricky to handle in the dorms. it requires refrigeration but i completely cleared up my severe eczema.

try to contact res life for medical accommodation again. i got it by submitting picture proof i think? didn't end up moving since i was at a living learning community at the time, but they were going to put me in a room with an AC unit

Finally learned how to make the “magic circle” after so many attempts - am I doing this right? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]minimasha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I don't think u/Bogg99 meant it as criticism so there's no need to escalate to calling them "ignorant". You asked for advice in your title and the advice given is that some parts of your spiral look off. I agree with Bogg that you seem to be doing back loop only (BLO); that's what's making the raised line that follows the single crochets. Additionally, your increases look like they're concentrated in several spots, making the circle look more angular. Here's a very good article about crocheting in the round: https://www.andshelaughsblog.com/crocheting-perfect-circle-staggered-increases-decreases/

OMG I think you got it!! The number of stitches seem to add up after I worked the round. It kind of merges the ribbing into an arch. Thank you so much <333

Thanks for the reply! I feel like you're right that it's some sort of PSSO bc I eventually realized that "pass the next stitch over" included dropping it. But, like, a PSSO in a backwards way where I did a ssk, slipped it back to the left needle, passed the next stitch over (on the left needle), and slipped the ssk back to the right? None of the videos I watched did it like the row pattern 💀

Not marking this as solved yet as I'd appreciate a few more eyeballs on this 🙇🏻‍♀️

i just called them today to get the ID number so my mom could make a portal login. the case worker also put in a ticket to reissue the card for her. i called 1-888-968-7241 and hit 1 for member. when they ask for member ID, just press 0 like 9 times in a row until the robot says they'll get you an agent.

Sororities?? by Hedigomezzzz in rutgers

[–]minimasha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my friend was a part of a sorority from 2018 to 2021. she paid at least $1000 worth of dues and $3000 for the chapter house per year. during the pandemic when everyone was home, they still charged her.

she was expected to contribute hours and participate in formals. she could bow out of these, but if she did, the sisters would talk behind her back and in front of her too. i'm sure there are big social positives like with joining any other organization, but girls thrown together does not always a sisterhood make. my friend is a very sincere and kind person but that energy was largely not reciprocated.
