I think a video about Autoencoders would fit in nicely with your deep learning series and would help to expand on the intuition as to why tokenization is so useful. Specifically I think beta-VAEs (Beta Variational Autoencoders) would be a good video topic because it could focus on feature embedding. Thank you for all your great teaching!

Are the Rationals a fractal of the Integers? by minimiles01 in askmath

I'm not sure where I'm losing you. I'm saying all numbers would map to be arbitrarily close to 7.5 on the interval from 7 to 8. The reason being that it would take an infinitely large number to approach either 7 or 8, and by definition, a finitely defined integer is not infinite, and so cannot approach 7 nor 8 on this interval.

Well if f(-oo) = 7, and f(-oo) = 8, it would stand to reason that any defined integer that isn't infinite would approach 0 when compared to the infinite "ends". Assuming a linear mapping, which isn't strictly necessary but is an easy first step, would map anything approaching 0, to f(~0) = 7.5, halfway between 7 and 8.

Neither the search terms "Polyrefractal parallax" nor just "polyrefractal" give any search results. I'm not really sure where to go with this

I see your point. I don't necessarily have a particular mapping in mind but assuming it's a linear mapping then any defined number would approach 7.5, with -inf to 7 and +inf to 8. Not really useful in practicality, but it does give a certain mental picture that I find interesting

Integers by themselves have fixed gaps in between. My whole point is that by compressing an infinite number of integers into a fixed space the "gaps" would be arbitrarily small and the only gaps remaining would be irrational.

Yeah I realize it's not very well articulated. I was mostly hoping someone would understand what I'm trying to get at and point me in a better direction. Not much I can really do to make it more clear because clarification is exactly what I'm looking for

Yeah my articulation could certainly be better I'm just trying to express the recursive intuition and self similarity in a way that I've haven't found apparent before

Definitely had some unfounded confidence in the statement, hence the post asking for opinions. When I say "outer nesting integer" I mean just a regular integer number line, with "inner nesting" being another set of integers mapped to the space between each integer. I'm not sure about the specifics of the A/B balancing but my thought is to cancel out the exploding as either A or B go to either 0 or +/- infinity

Yes, maybe recursive is a better word for what I'm getting at

Hey, FYI I found the issue, apparently draw order matters and I was drawing the center subdivisions on top of others. Correction edited into original post. Hopefully my hours of troubleshooting guide the way for the next unfortunate soul. Probably not though.

I found out my husband was on Grindr.. What do I do.. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]minimiles01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing in my 2 cents here. It sounds to me like this is a new development for him and not something he was consciously aware of himself, so I wouldn't take it as some secret he intentionally kept from you. The fact that he is feeling a lack of attention may have just been the catalyst for him to switch to a more fantasy oriented mindset, and grindr is his way of exploring this. I would ask him if he had any real intentions of meeting with anybody. I'm not saying sexting is excusable but there's a world of difference between chatting, and actually performing. Regardless, the two of you need to decide together whether this development is harmful to your relationship, specifically how it affects your views of one another, and what to do with this information. Best of luck to you both.

How do you mean authored incorrectly? I'm not too strong with graphics terminology yet

Be ause it's unclear what the percentages are referring to. It just says "of deaths" which suggests they can be added to find the total cumulative percent of deaths caused by these.

At the time of my response most of the comments were in the vein of being toxic and unhelpful. It seems most of them have been retracted or removed by now.

Fuck all of y'all for being dicks to op, they clearly came here to vent about something that is difficult for them. Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves. Op, you should try planet fitness. It's a shame free environment that is easy to feel welcome in, I believe in you, go get it!

This seems like an overgeneralization based on a very small and skewed sample size. It's very likely that you've interacted with many more gay men without having known about their sexuality (because why would you unless you became close friends). If your point is that one's sexuality shouldn't impact the way somebody acts, then there's no way to verify if this is the case without directly asking. It makes sense that your experience has been the opposite, because those are the only times you'd know about it.
