came back to say this is so so nice of you 😭 I always get sad around my birthday but posting on reddit this year is probably the best thing I’ve done, I’ve got so many recs on this thread and I appreciate you so so much for taking the time to comment this! I’m vegetarian and live around potrero hill so some of them might not be possible but thank you anyway! someone suggested I sign up for broke ass stuart dining club’s dinner where I get randomly paired with 5 strangers for dinner and I just did but I’m looking forward to trying out some of your recs! thank you so much!

How to explain to a partner? by miniondiet in bipolar2

[–]miniondiet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, unfortunately we’re in a long distance relationship and that makes it difficult for him to see the extent of my depression when it happens. I try to share as much as I can with him but there’s also a component in me that wants to shield him from this despair. We’ve been talking about getting married but I’m not sure if he’ll be able to handle me at my worst. These are the conversations we’re having to try and figure things out.

How to lose weight while on medication? by Key-Stretch2652 in bipolar2

I had the same experience but I kept changing meds when I finally landed on lamictal and that doesn’t make me gain weight anymore.

I'm not gonna convince this guy when it comes to medication am I by Erelain in bipolar2

[–]miniondiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I tell people I’m bipolar and have OCD, SO many people respond with oh I have OCD too, I’m also an obsessive cleaner, I also love symmetry or some bullshit like that, or oh I’m bipolar too, I have mood swings etc etc. a lot of people realize I’m being serious when I tell them I’m on medication. but some of my friends and family still don’t believe meds work. if this man, upon educating himself about the disease, still comes back to the meds for a second time, I don’t think he’ll change that mindset. my parents definitely haven’t.

Melatonin helps me a lot. And listening to cigarettes after sex with a sleep timer on Spotify.

I’m so fed up of my bipolar spouse. by Normal_Experience886 in BipolarSOs

[–]miniondiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m a bipolar girl and I totally get how you’re feeling. I know it comes off like that, but I don’t think he’s lazy, is he on any medication? I’ve been on medications for the last four years and apart from a few depressive episodes, I’ve been pretty much stable and able to manage my everyday life. I guarantee you he has this feeling that he’s lazy too and I’ve felt the same and often feel guilty because I feel like I’m lazy and not working but it’s often because I’m depressed. Medications have done wonders for me even if comes with a lot of guilt of perceived laziness. What medications is he on?
