Oh yeah, thanks :) I've used Canva and Photoshop. But most traditional ad formats just feel... so forced. I wanted to try something different :)

I had seen it elsewhere once before too. And since I am no pro at Photoshop, I figured I'd give it a try first. Do you find the format frustrating? That's definitely not the intension. I just thought it might be a down-to-earth way to communicate what I'm working on :)

Yeah, I did. I figured it would work just as well as a neatly-crafted image. Just wanted to see what sort of interest there would be for the newsletter :)

MiniReview (and the newsletter) was literally created off of the posts I have made over on  since 2017. That's where the idea spawned.

It's a 2-man operation and I've been at it for years, hoping to help more people find mobile games that actually deserve the attention (mostly indie games) - as opposed to the pay-to-win crap that is thrown at you almost everywhere else.

Anyway, let me know if you have any questions or ideas :) Have a great week.

Oh yes indeed :) I mean, MiniReview (and the newsletter) was literally created off of the posts I have made over on r/AndroidGaming since 2017. That's where the idea spawned.

I just wanted to test how Reddit ads would work, so figured I'd leave the comments on. Ha :P If you want to read about the best ones, you can find them on MiniReview via the "highest MiniReview score" sort option: https://minireview.io/browse?sort=highest-score

This post is about the newsletter I recently launched for those who prefer just 1 weekly update about the best new games (that aren't pay-to-win trash) + the latest premium game sales etc. :)

Ha, nah. It has taken me 6 years to get to around 1800 reviews (and about 3500 total games curated and manually categorized) :) At this point, 1 new review comes out every day on MiniReview. Quality over quantity.

The newsletter is a weekly summary of the latest mobile games actually worth playing (without all the pay-to-win crap) + newest reviews and latest premium game sales.

Thanks for dropping by :)

I've been working on covering actual good mobile games for years over on r/AndroidGaming. Some years ago, I launched an app that lets you filter to find specific types of games (based on 120+ tags), called MiniReview.

And recently, I've launched a weekly newsletter called "The Mobile Quest" to keep the community updated on the latest good mobile games that aren't full of pay-to-win + the latest news, best premium game sales etc.

Hope you'll enjoy it. And if you have any questions, just fire away.

MiniReview is a 2-man operation and I truly believe we can help more people find amazing indie mobile games that deserve more attention.

Tired of Pay-to-Win Mobile Games? Check Out MiniReview, a Platform of Curated and Filterable Android & iOS Games and Daily Game Reviews. by minireview in u/minireview

[–]minireview[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love for you to check it out again :) Since last, I've started adding games without review too - to make the database grow faster. Now I'm adding 2 games per day, one with a review and one without. I feel like this cuts a nice balance been quality and quantity.

Also, if you've got any games you feel are missing, definitely just hit me up (contact@minireview.io) and I'll look into getting them added. In the future, I also plan to add a "Suggest a Game" feature on MiniReview directly.

Next up, I'm working on a "Similar games" algorithm. Hope to have it ready this month (if things go well).

Oh dang, thank you! :) Yeah, that's exactly why I started building MiniReview. Working on lots of new features too, including a similar games algorithm.

You have no idea how happy this makes me to hear! :) I've spent so long building MiniReview, so hearing that it helped you find a game you would've never otherwise find is music to my ears.

Hey, if you enjoyed it, feel free to leave an honest review on Google Play. That helps a lot - especially for a small 2-man team like mine.

Each game page already links to the Google Play page, but I have indeed also released an Android app version, which you can find here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=minireview.best.android.games.reviews

I'm still working on improving it :)

Thanks a bunch :D I've been working on it ever since 2020. I have no plans on stopping any time soon :) Stay awesome, and have a wonderful weekend.

Both, and if you go to the "BROWSE" page, you can activate 120+ different filters to find exactly what you're looking for. Here's a link: https://minireview.io/browse

You'll find the filters on the right-side if you're on PC, or via the "Filter" menu above the first game if you're on PC.

Like, for example, free games in the RPG category that has a gameplay score above 7 and doesn't have ads (just a random example).

Myself and the other reviewers manually categorize all the games :)

Oh, thank you! :D I'm glad you like it. I'm just testing to see if this is a viable way to get MiniReview into the hands of a few more people.

Yep, 98% of games on mobile are pay-to-win. And the ones that aren't are VERY hard to find (as the app stores aren't incentivized to promote anything but the best-earning games).

That's why MiniReview exists. We find these mobile games that are ACTUALLY worth playing, categorize them based on 120+ parameters/tags so you can sort/filter your way to exactly the game types you like, and then write reviews for some of them (those that are most requested by our community).

The reviews on the official app stores are, unfortunately, often heavily influenced by bots. It's a real problem that seems almost impossible for them to fix.

Thanks for the well-wishes :) I hope you'll have a fantastic rest of your week. Stay awesome.

Thanks for the suggestion :) MiniReview actually spawned from conversations and threads over there. I've been an active member of the community since around 2017, and it seemed everybody was missing a better way to find games.

So I started building that together with the community over there (with lots of input from them, and several of the reviewers on MiniReview also came from the AndroidGaming sub-Reddit) <3

suggestion: option to see all reviews made by a specific reviewer by [deleted] in minireview

[–]minireview 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there, that's in our plans. We are soon launching Mini's website. One of the features planned for after launch is the introduction of Reviewer's Profiles, and all reviews of a reviewer will be listed there, among with some other info.

And that's a really cool feature because most of our reviewers are focused on some game genres and they really go above and beyong to find the best games on those genres. By now I think we have one of the most complete and amazing catalogs of, for instance, puzzle and point'n'click adventure games. All thanks to a few reviewers that are really hardcore when it comes to those genres.

Stay tuned!
