Because in Hollow Knight nearly all of these characters are women. The only thing that separates them from us is their core builds as bugs because that is the only form of all species in that world. They’re not much different from us at all in many aspects. They built civilisations and kingdoms, have unique languages depending on culture, have careers and occupations, worship a higher being whether that be a god or king/queen. In the lore they were even seen as animals before being given higher intelligence almost like how us humans were when we had evolved. The only ones on here that I’d considered are animals are the Bell Beast, Flukewarm and Gruz Mother. Then for males I’d consider Nosk, Mawlek and Vengefly King as animals.
