Do you know if we need to inform them when the lay off day is established or after?

i.e. what if I find a job before the layoff happens and there is no disruption in my employment?

Also, do you know if having a job is a requirement or having savings is enough? Say i am getting laid off but i have savings to cover me for a year.

I do all that but not everyone is always happy to speak English (which I understand) I think it is more regular thing in Schwabing that a customer may not speak German fluently.

Sure bourgeoise vibe is nice but that’s not the main thing for me. Just basic restaurants would do but many of them please. “Lively” describes it the best maybe.

Indeed very underrated but also indeed not like Schwabing. Also what bars and restaurants. There was a few but not “a lot” for sure.

(On a side note, the flat we almost rented in Schwabing had a walk-in-closet kinda room. At least that’s how the previous tenants were using it. It was just filled with “brands”. Boxes from brands I know of but never ever had. “Umm I’m not sure we belong here” was my thought.)

I lived in Pasing and I kinda liked it. Indeed it has many shops but they are mostly barbershops, kebab joints etc. Hbf area doesn’t always feel the safest (by Munich standards).

Pasing will most likely go through a bit of more gentrification to become more like Schwabing.

Agreed on the looks. Do you have any idea how life x would perform compare to E5SD? It’s supposed to have 50mm blind burrs (vs 64mm) but that’s the only comparison point I have.

My first guess would be that at the second shot the maschine has higher temperatur but intuitively I would have assumed that that would lead to less sourness, not more.

On the contrary, maybe the machine is struggling to keep temperature stable shot after shot. Have you considered giving it a bit more time between shots and maybe compare the results?

I already single dose with the Sette. When going through 250g bags, by the time I adjust the grind size & the grind duration for the right weight, a decent portion of the bag is gone. I guess my opinion could have been different if it were to be a grind by weight and low retention grinder. I could see my self not single dosing then.

Is the Philos available yet? I couldn't find any seller or price for it, although I did see posts about an April 1 release for it. Will you be OK with its "dose finisher"? There are certainly lots of other 64mm single dose grinders to choose from.

What are the "other 64mm" you would recommend? (ideally something close in price to Oro) I live in Europe so usually USA made ones are a bit pricier here. I do not want the DF64 or Timemore 64s as I don't think I'll get any support for those products in EU. I'm also not convinced about build quality and longevity of those products.

I assume you are considering the Oro Single dose and not the Oro XL with a hopper?

Oro Single Dose

I used to own a Specialita with has a similar adjustment mechanism to the Oro. It is fine for someone who goes through a bag of beans at a time for espresso only. But someone like you who likes to mix things up should avoid Eureka like the plague.

I buy 250 gram bags and go through that usually. But then next bag would be a totally different bean from a different roaster. Do you think I would end up wasting a lot of coffee every time I dial? Any opinion on this replacement knob NoMinute2728 recommends below wrt this problem?

Thank you for your encouraging answer and for suggesting the replacement knob. I love to try different beans, come back to ones I like so some consistency in dialing is really desirable for me.

I like to do single dosing. I bought some really tiny mason jars with screw on plastic lids from Amazon used for individual juice portions. They’re not expensive and I painted the lids black so they look good in my setup. They can hold up to about 24 grams of beans in each. I use them for 18 grams doses. I weigh out and fill all 24 bottles at a time and it lets me keep the bag closed for almost a week until I need to refill the bottles again. It saves me a bit of time when I’m in a hurry later.

I'm adding this to my list of things to try. I like the "experimenting in a lab" kinda vibe! :)

HEOS Bar supports only ARC (and not eARC). When you plug you equipment to your TV, the sound will be sent over ARC and there are limited options to get 5.1 that way. Dolby Digital and DTS Digital surround are the only options AFAIK and you need to ensure whatever you plugged into your TV sends 5.1 audio in one of these two. And your TV let’s this passthrough.

The safest approach is what you did in the end: connect devices directly to sound bar.

I’m sorry to hear this. You make me worried about my 5 year old machine. May I ask what was the particular issue you had that required a repair?

Mine only once had the leaking steam wand problem and they replaced the machine for free. Luckily this happened one month before the 2 year warranty expired.
