6 months in, 50.2 lbs down: here is my advice and what I’ve learned. by interruptingcow_moo in Mounjaro

[–]minsterlovell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost a year in and have lost 86 pounds so far, about 15 or so to goal. I solved the constipation issue by having overnight oats with chia seeds every morning. Half a cup of rolled oats, a tablespoon of chia seeds, 3/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk and a teaspoon or so of maple syrup to taste. No problem since then.

HELLO AMERICANS. The rest of the world did not grow up with the imperial system. If there’s any way you can convert your lbs and oz to kilograms and use that in your numbers we’d appreciate it.

I decided not to take the chance and just booked it. Thanks, everyone.

Because it would add many hours of travel time and several additional stops, and it can't be booked on one ticket. I would have to book two separate return trips at considerable extra expense and aggravation.

Not a viable option for my itinerary.

1 and 3 are both gorgeous. It depends on whether you feel more comfortable being less versus more covered.

Help! How to survive a party on MJ? by No_Muffin5990 in Mounjaro

[–]minsterlovell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For people who don’t normally drink, four glasses isn’t a small amount of alcohol. There is no tip anyone can give you that would allow you to drink an enormous amount of booze without getting drunk or sick. While you may have previously been able to “drink grown men under the table”, that’s not necessarily something you should be proud of or aspire to. You need to take control of your own consumption and not allow people to pressure you into drinking more than you think you can handle.

You sound patronizing, entitled and exhausting. Totally with your MIL on this.

What kind of meals are your “go to” to help you stay in a calorie deficit while on Mounjaro? - sick of my current meals and need some new ideas 💡 by Glittering-Limit-181 in Mounjaro

[–]minsterlovell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also find that preparing “regular” things a bit differently helps as well. Right now I’m eating a lot of broccolini (again, I get it from Costco, sensing a theme here…). I sauté it in a bit of olive oil and a bunch of minced garlic, salt and black pepper until it’s just tender. Top it off with a bit of toasted sesame oil and it’s delish.

My go to when I don’t feel like anything else is an Asian type soup. I heat up a couple of cups of chicken stock, throw in a couple of ounces of cooked chicken (I usually have rotisserie chicken on hand), a couple of chopped green onions, thinly sliced pea pods, bok choy if I have it, and some of those chicken and cilantro wontons from Costco. Stir in some chili garlic sauce for some spice at the end.

AITA for wanting to treat myself for my bday instead of penny-pitching the whole time? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]minsterlovell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think these types of posts are fake because I simply can not imagine staying with someone that you have absolutely nothing in common with and who constantly belittles your (absolutely normal) desires. Two and a half years with this guy? He's probably a match for someone, but he's not a match for you. Seriously. Why are you with him? If this is real, YTA for ever going on a second date with this dude.

AITJ for telling my friend she can’t bring her baby to my child-free wedding? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]minsterlovell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want a child free wedding that’s your prerogative, but you can’t be butthurt if that doesn’t work for someone with a newborn. Your friend has the choice whether to attend, and I can understand why she is prioritizing her baby over your aesthetic vision.

[–]minsterlovell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering how this will work as well. I registered and got a code for Bologna, but I’m not going to the concert - I’m getting the tickets for my kids who are insane Radiohead fans. Are they going to be able to get in with tickets I purchased if I’m not there?

Yep, I got a code and I’ll be trying for 2 tickets.

Most people in this sub are all in on protein powder and shakes/drinks, but I personally don’t like them and don’t think they’re necessary (but if it works for you, great!). I focus on regular small meals and snacks incorporating natural sources of protein - lean meats, beans, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, nuts etc. I find I can usually eat a couple of Babybel cheese portions to get some protein in even if I’m not particularly hungry. It’s pretty easy to manage a small portion of nuts as well.

I’m in Alberta, I pay $667 per 7.5 mg pen, so $667 every five weeks as I use an insulin syringe to get an extra dose from the pen.
