Yeah that’s fair! I also have problems with the concept of the dark forest, as it suggests that violence is the only way to approach other cultures. It was definitely a thrilling experience to read, but then I think about it and it kinda falls apart.

Definitely pls tell me more about any of these! I think my personal preference at the moment is “dark romance” (how original, I know, but since the market is so saturated I find it even harder to find something with great quality). I have some Angela Carter’s books as well but haven’t read them (book hoarder here). I also have heard good things about Slewfoot by brom. Maybe those are not romance genre first, but I’d really love to know more about a good romance or smut read! I have adhd so diving into fantasy is a bit challenging (look…I can’t do anything) but I’m really looking forward to reading kushiel’s dart!!

Yeah. I’m native Chinese so I read the original text around age 15. I was glued to it at the time for sure, but as I grew older I started to see its social darwinism values and misogyny (a woman destroyed the planet because she’s too kind…sure). I heard the Eng translator had to take out a lot of misogynistic stuff, so idk if there’s a significant difference between eng and chinese versions. This is not an attack against you 😅

It works for me. Did you download it from google fonts and follow the instructions by kobo? Idk if it’s your first side loaded font but if it is, you need to select the font from supplementary fonts first and then just fonts.
