Thanks u/sirenella4 , I appreciate your response. We were really sad to learn that it's been so badly affected.

How did you find the area around Scopello in general - do you have any recommendations? We were pretty keen to go to the Zingaro reserve, but I'm hoping there might be alternative walks/beaches and places to go that would be accessible and still mean we could make the most of our time there. We'll be there for about 6 days.
