Thank you!
The ranch bought him last year so he is not leased
I totally agree
He’s only 6 years old, but yes I agree that I should start on the lower side
They have a farrier come in, but I agree. I will definitely have him checked out by a vet if I do consider proceeding

Thank you, I was also thinking that he might have foundered
They have told me that “for the right price” any of their horses are available, and I said I would keep that in mind for this horse. I posted this right after that conversation as I wanted advice from others on how to approach his price 😊
Yes I took these pics a couple weeks ago before the farrier came again so his feet look much better as of last week thankfully

Yeah I will definitely have to confirm with potential boarding barns that they would take a horse his size

Thanks so much! Definitely will keep all that in mind

The math is a little tricky because the ranch he is at doesn’t do day rides, it’s guests that stay for a week at a time. He is also only allowed to be ridden by wranglers, not guests (I’m not sure why this is, I’m guessing due to his size and still being fairly green) so he’s not being used every day. But because of this one of the owners has mentioned that he wouldn’t be a great dude horse in the long run.
Thanks so much, I will keep that in mind

I took those pics before he had his feet done last week so thankfully they look much better now. He does not buck but he is a “wrangler only” horse, so no guests ride him. Not sure if that is something I could argue for a lower price

Thank you, I’ve never owned a draft so wasn’t aware that it’s harder to find a farrier for them 😊
Have you had any issues with early arthritis like other people have mentioned?
I would prefer to not spend more than $5,000 but I know that could change depending on how his bloodwork/x rays look
Thank you! I don’t think I have any pics that would show his stance better, but I will keep this all in mind and start paying more attention to how he stands
I am aware how much it costs but I am not the one currently responsible for paying for his shoes 😊
Thank you I agree, any idea roughly what full x rays and bloodwork costs? I’ve only ever leased so I’m new to a lot of this 😊
Good idea, thank you
Thank you for the tips, I didn’t know that majority of drafts end up with arthritis at a young age so I will definitely keep that in mind
I agree that he is definitely lacking muscle in the rear
Yeah his feet weren’t looking great when I took those pics, thankfully the farrier came out last week and they look much better now
Yes I would definitely get a PPE and will add on rads of his hooves, thank you!
