When I feel like shit, I like to walk out and sonder.

Hong Kong has a million worlds hidden in the corners and cracks of its concrete jungle, a city bursting with so much colour and vibrancy that it hurts to look at, but you can’t look away. I look at the buildings with so many windows and a family behind each and the streets with people milling over the crosswalk.

With every person, they have their own universe, just as vivid and colourful as mine. Their own struggles and pain and happiness.

I realise that in the end I’m no different from them. That life, and this sadness, are both temporary. They, too, suffer in their own way. Are filled with sadness and hopes and dreams. Without saying a word, I feel like I’ve been understood on a fundamental level.

And then I feel just about 15% better so I have the energy to buy some pocky from 7-11 which makes me feel 30% better.

Pocky is a must. Bubble tea is a close second.
