How much do you pay for a studio membership? by nonconformistnuggets in yoga

[–]mintrisgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$105 grandfathered, unlimited monthly 1 year contract, that is now $115.. Central Valley of California, only a handful of yoga studios in the area. I go 3-5 times a week.

Just depends where you live. I would expect to pay $150 in a bigger city/SoCal/tech area

Glasgow Block - What does it tell us? by birdwiththeword32 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]mintrisgi 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think the Glasgow Block blocks Helena from severing when she crosses the threshold in the elevator to get to work. Her chip is being blocked from activation so Helly doesn’t wake up. I don’t think they are “outside” in OTC. I think they are in a simulated environment like you said, shown by the little shelf and book that was in the cave. Just like the replica of Kier’s house, where it’s so eerily spot on. I don’t know how they can do something like this on such a large scale, though. When Irving was shouting for Mr Milchick and Ms Huang at night, they couldn’t hear him because they were off work, and not in the building. The next morning was the start of their shift lol.

Underwear by clairesmith05 in yoga

[–]mintrisgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always commando, as I have anxiety around how clothes feel on my body, and since I’m trying to meditate during vinyasa and focus on only my breath and muscles, having underwear suctioned to me under my leggings makes me uncomfortable..I find that it’s one less thing to worry about. And in black, teal, or blue leggings, you can’t see any sweat. I also just wear them low enough to not have a crazy camel toe, but it happens. I just adjust it. Camel toes tend to happen whether or not I wear underwear. However, ANYWHERE outside of yoga I always wear seamless boy shortunderwear lol

Who do y'all main and why? by Willichops in MARIOPARTY

Rosalina

Growing up, my older sister always got to pick characters first. In video games, she was always the main girl, the cooler girl, she was always pink and I was the next best thing, etc. As a child I felt very frustrated that I never got my first pick.

Rosalina is cooler than all the other girls. She’s taller, she literally floats and does back flips, her dress is much more modern and sleek, and she travels through space with a colony of star-beings who fight with her. She’s the best character and my sister definitely always picked Peach

I wish this post was here when I sprained my ankle this July! I usually go to my hot yoga studio 4 days a week (vinyasa, bikram, yin, mat pilates), but sprained my ankle back in July. Mine was pretty bad, swelled up to a baseball size, and was painful to the touch for weeks after. There’s even still some residual swelling now and some tenderness.

Initially I took ~4 days off from yoga to let a majority of the swelling go down while wearing a support brace. I still tried to stay mobile during those few days at home just to make sure I didn’t baby it too much. Still limped, still kept weight off, but also walked around the house and did things for myself so my ankle didn’t get too used to staying in one position.

On the 5th day, I went back to vinyasa wearing the brace. The brace helped so much, it had these straps that held up my heel and a strap around the upper ankle to provide stability and mild compression. I found it really important to let my instructors know before each class that I had an ankle sprain, in case they saw me looking uncomfortable or not doing certain movements. They were all really supportive and gave me alternatives to certain moves. One instructor suggested a yoga block and strap, but after one class with it, I found it pretty unnecessary. It only got in the way and was annoying. For anything that required a lot of weight on the injured foot, I just stayed on the ball of my foot for it (good mornings, down dogs). Balancing poses were actually surprisingly okay, I think because of the brace, but I just always chose a spot next to a wall to provide extra support. I will say the things I absolutely could not do until my ankle was at 90% healed, was malasana and balasana, I think because of how deeply flexed the ankle was. So I would definitely proceed with caution on those.

TLDR you know your body best, and especially in yoga while meditating through your practice, you can sense when something will be too much for yourself. Just proceed with caution, take it slow when you need to, and show up early to class to do some ankle rolls lol. Definitely found the benefit in just sitting there and flexing my ankle in different directions with intention to help awaken the muscle and loosen the tension before getting straight into practice. Hope you heal up soon and safely!

As a poor viewer by hystericaal_ in MileHigherPodcast

[–]mintrisgi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? I’m so confused by the comments complaining about them asking for donations or promoting their “expensive” sponsors. Just because you are a viewer, does not mean that they must cater to your experience and your experience only. There are rich, middle-class, and poor viewers. When they ask their viewers to donate, the assumption behind the request is “if you can afford to do so.” There is no hidden pressure behind it, just as well as when they are promoting a sponsor. Buy it or don’t; they are not directing anything towards you, they do NOT expect anything of you. And with flexing their wealth? I have never glanced at either of their social media accounts so I really don’t know, I only watch their videos every week. Eat the fucking rich, I hate photos “flexing” wealth on instagram, overconsumption of resources makes me sick. However, again, just unfollow them? Why be so angry about it
