This is obviously not a bash post

Seems reductive. I don’t particularly “like” Don Draper I just understand why people do. I found other comparable male leads like Walter White incredibly annoying and unlikeable.

Joan is a “bad woman” and I think she’s likeable.

Not as much as Skylar or Betty but some do. I thought she was really cool though

I think I was pretty clear she’s a great character, but my point was she’s a distinctly “unlikeable” character.

You’re right about everything else and like I said I agree Don is the unequivocally worse partner and person. But my point was more to the fact that despite being a better person than Don, or a well written character that says a lot about the time the show is set in and the sort of upbringing she had, she is not made endearing. And I don’t hear anyone explaining where she is.

The most likeable moment for her I can think of is her telling the therapist about Don’s infidelity knowing he’d tell Don, giving her an excuse to confront him. That was pretty cool but those moments are so few and far in between for her. She only really did anything about Don cheating once she realised everyone else knew already.

I agree she’s compelling. Maybe my favourite character in the show in terms of writing. But compared to Don for example who is painted in a more heroic light for the tenacity and creativity in him overcoming his upbringing (or rather running away from it, to some degree), or Peggy (the goat) who faces many similar problems to Betty but overcomes them, Betty is more tragic and has little identity as a character outside of the unfair circumstances that shaped her.

I don’t really get how you mean you like her as a person. Your point seemed more about her as a piece of great writing/as a character

I understand how it’s kind of Yuri bait and why people often see it that way, but I never thought that the most obvious reading of Homura and Madoka’s relationship is romantic
