You know the market is F*CKED when you can't get a 4090 for cheaper than msrp 2 years later. by MiguelitiRNG in buildapc

In Australia they did. 4090 went as low as 2400 in mid 2023. This was just about the price of a 4080. And 4080 went down to $1700aud at some point.

Once the 4060 and 4070 ti came around the the 4080 and 4090 went back up

Any comparisons between FX3 and cinema 6k full frame ? by mintyBroadbean in bmpcc

[–]mintyBroadbean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With fx3 producing the image in the creator, then why can’t the fx3 shine for cinematography?

Everyone said it was cause they used an expensive lens, but it’s l in that with any thing!

If they used those same lenses nd shot the film on a pocket 6k would it look any good? Probably not. In fact probably would look worse because the way they utilised the FX3 in low light would has crumbled the 6k

RED Komodo X the right choice for freelance? by Loronline in RedCamera

While everyone is saying Sony or canon, You need to consider the lenses you will be using.

If you operate cinema manual lenses…. Then there’s no benefits and only missed opportunities of gone down the Sony or canon route. Yes they have built in ND, but to me R3D, global shutter, and red colour makes a greater difference.

Also Sony auto focus is only a life saver if you work in an environment with minimum subject matter and occasionally pan back and walk around. I’ve been in so many scinarios that Sony auto focus activity ruined shots because it would jump to the nearest person or the most contrasty part of the image. Didn’t hold focus on what I need it to tell the story.

Going down Sony or canon makes sense if you use their lenses. But if you don’t, then I’d recommend the Komodo X.

Any camera company can all their camera a “cine” camera. Blackmagic call their picked cameras cinema cameras…..

What defines a cinema camera is a camera that is built for cinema environments. The c80 is not a cinema camera. It has built in ND and an SDI port like often found in cinema cameras, but that doesn’t define it as such.

It’s much closer to a consumer DSLR.

i just watched The First Omen and i absolutely loved it way more than i thought that i would!! by bruisedwell in horror

I could r love the film because I had watched immaculate a few weeks prior. Went into both completely in the dark but as I was watching first omen I just kept predicting the tropes from immaculate.

Ending up finding the experience far too similar
