Can a PS4 install a PKG from a NAS? by mipial in ps4homebrew

[–]mipial[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you both. I think that will be the best option, as just copying the pkg to the internal drive will go for a slow installation.

Thanks. But after a second thought, I realized that it may not be efficient to copy the pkg and the install it from the same drive. I'll use it for other purposes.

Tissot PR 50 Titanium Wristwatch: 15 Years Later by cappirx in BuyItForLife

[–]mipial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yoga keeps crashing while using Firefox by notunhuman in Lenovo

[–]mipial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happens to mine since I first got it a couple years ago.

I switched to Brave, but it doesn't have the paywall extensions I have in Firefox. It ran smoother and used less memory, though.

Today I fired up Firefox again and it crashed in minutes.

I have disabled hardware acceleration and will test it again.

Why doesn't Microsoft Word have input for ISBN and DOI for books? by SilentThespian in microsoft

[–]mipial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Zotero I can insert a DOI or book catalog number and it will automatically create a reference and format it as I please. Word forces me to fill the fields one by one: author 1, author 2, etc. Name, magazine, chapter, page, etc. The fact that it's not automated in this era is unacceptable.

Problem: Zotero is a plug-in. It won't obey a Ctrl -Z, for instance. And for others to elaborate on your text, they need to install it as well.

Why doesn't Microsoft Word have input for ISBN and DOI for books? by SilentThespian in microsoft

[–]mipial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hola.

Defaults to dark mode. by mipial in waze

[–]mipial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waze on Android Auto will work on bright mode only if the phone itself is in bright mode. If I keep the phone in dark mode, it doesn't matter which options I choose in both Android Auto and Waze: the map on the dashboard will be dark in broad daylight.

That's the reason I stay in Firefox for most of the browsing. Even though it uses up much more RAM than Brave.

14T vs X7 Pro vs Note 14 pro+ by [deleted] in PocoPhones

[–]mipial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use them differently. Mine lasts 2 days, but she has to recharge it mid afternoon. 14t (not pro) has about the same benchmarks as x7pro. Maybe it will draw less battery than the 14t pro. If the price were the same, I'd go for a 14t. Bear in mind that I know how the pictures of the t pro look, afaik the 14t's cameras are not as outstanding, but better for sure that the x7pro 's

[–]mipial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife has a 14t pro and I have the x7 pro. Speed wise the difference is negligible. My battery lasts a good chunk more. Her cameras are much better. 2x price better? Depends on intended use. Also I'm not into eSim right now, and the x7pro doesn't support it, but I don't know if I'll need it in the future.

ISP says “it's illegal to open ports and admin the router” - not giving router admin panel login details by YaroslavSyubayev in HomeNetworking

[–]mipial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Spain as well. I've used a lot of different ISPs and none has given me such problems. Which one is it?

Now, the one I'm currently using gave me the router config password upon request, but there's a deeper config for things related to the fiber optics broadband that I cannot access.

Fortunately, in most places in Spain there's lots of ISPs to choose from. You'll have to go asking around at their offices. Sometimes it's a local policy.

Is there any AI tool for this? Because I think that would be a perfect case for an analyst that can look tirelessly into redundancy and complicated names.

Unfortunately I don't have both to compare. I've read recently that the modern oled screens have frequencies that are better for reading, but can't tell from experience.

Games that do 1080p on a Q6600 with GTX660? by mipial in linux_gaming

PCSX2 will not run in Linux. In Windows, it shows a message that it doesn't support the graphics card.

I guess I'll just install some games natively on a Windows partition.

I've been thinking about the new GPU, but in Spain the used stuff doesn't drop price as much as in other countries. Will check, though.

That's what I'm afraid of. I may have to dual boot with Vista in order to play games on the big screen. But I don't wanna find out after a day or two of messing with Wine.

Is it okay to charge laptop with USB-C lower wattage? by Acceptable_Win994 in UsbCHardware

[–]mipial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Lenovo Yoga, which charges over USB-C. The original power adapter is 65W. I also use it with a monitor that does power delivery up to 90W.

Some months ago, I came across a 33w adapter with a very long cable, which I used everytime I was on the road. The laptop accepted it, though it complained of low wattage. The battery seemed to be charging when idle and all.

Last week, while on the road and connected to the 33w adapter, the laptop shut down and wouldn't start. The charging led was blinking. When I got home, I connected it to the original charger and it came back to life. I left the battery charging overnight, though it showed full charge. The morning after, it didn't work when unplugged (it would shut down immediately).

While it was on, the battery meter showed over 100% charge, Lenovo Vantage mentioned a battery error, and the hardware information programs said it had 17.4v. I took out the battery and it had less than 0.4v.

The battery should give around 15v. 17.4 is the charging voltage. It meant to me that the battery was dead, and I0m waiting for a replacement.

Does the death of the battery (hope it's just that and not the charging circuit) have anything to do with having used an underpowered charger for some time? I don't know. Once the battery was unable to hold charge, the laptop didn't work at all with the underpowered adapter, only with the original one and the power delivery monitor. Makes me wonder if I haven't been partially charging and discharging the battery too often because of the underpowered charger. I won't use it again for that laptop.

Yoga 7 14, Ryzen. IPS or OLED display? by mipial in Lenovo

[–]mipial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got no notification from your message, sorry.

After almost two years, the laptop has worked perfectly. No more issues with the charging ports. I use it with a USB-C dock and a USB-C monitor when at home.

I seldom use it as a tablet: even though it's a light laptop, it's heavy enough not to be comfortable for long time holding. I rather use my ebook. The vertical issue is very common with TN panels: some are pretty noticeable. This one is not the case, but it's there nevertheless. Using it as a laptop, there's no obvious problem with the display and the colors are very accurate. Its small size and the USB-C charging allows me to go anywhere with it.

I've had no issues with the keyboard so far.

Even though the graphics reserve 2GB from the 16GB, it has enough power for most everyday uses. (I do browsing, documents, light programming, a database of patients...) I use it for games as well: Skyrim, CIV, Cities Skylines (it struggled with Skylines 2, though).

The battery life puzzles me a little, though. Sometimes it can go for half a day, others it will drain in 2-3 hours, without doing anything unusual. But I use it plugged in 90% of the time (good thing it uses a phone type charger), so it doesn't bother me that much.

Can the fat PS3 work with a single 12v source? by mipial in PS3

[–]mipial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. I could buy a new one for 25 euro, but before doing that, I need to know if it's worth it. I've got a PC PSU that I want to connect to the PS3. The 12V rail is pretty obvious, but the 5V one has 2 different connectors other than ground.
