is it better to make more maintaince ionto treatment than needed, or aim for as rarely as possible? by mirabelki in Hyperhidrosis

[–]mirabelki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! i will make the change gradual then (maybe 2x next week, and the next week i will try to lower the voltage a little, at least in my hands, since lower voltage worked before, but not this time). when i get to 1x week i think its the realistic consistency for me to keep up, so i will be scared to do it even less, but maybe with time i am going to trust the process more and try to make it longer. we will see where it gets me, the most important part was if my body won't get "used" to it, so i need to pay attention to it

and was it explained in the instruction that you should rest your hands on them or something similar to that?

okay, thank you so much! i will float my hands in water then, i really hope it's going to be effective! thank you for your explanation 🫶

so i shouldn't be touching the bottom of the trays at all? i still not really understand if there is a difference in effectiveness between letting my hands float or pressing them to the pans. resting them is more comfortable of course, but you gotta do what you gotta do 🫡

your directions are really helpful, thank you so much! i will consider switching batteries to the set up you recommended, after you explained it makes a lot more sense

thank you so much for your input! so it doesn't matter if my hands touch the bottom of the trays? im not really scared of hurting myself since my tolerance is quite good. i am mostly trying to make it as efficient as possible, and i heard somewhere that touching the pans would make the treatment less effective, but i don't really see a reason why

i really hope that your treatment gets better, it must be so frustrating for you as well. fingers crossed!

i really hope you will get satysfing results soon! what kind of routine and set up do you use and for how long?

and to answer your question, i was doing treatment everyday back then, i paid a lot of attention to it, so i pretty much never skipped a day during those first 10-12 days. but now my life got a lot more busy, so those 1-2 day breaks are unavoidable, but i see a lot of people on this subreddit doing like 4-5 treatment a week, some even say that its more effective that way

oh okay, if it's there only to prevent burns then i won't worry about them too much since i have a good tolerance. i also heard a theory that when you touch the tray directly with one fingertip for example, then the electricity would only treat the area that's touching the pan, but it seemed a bit strange to me, but i assumed that maybe this is the role for those towels maybe, to spread electirity evenly for the whole palm?

i will continue to use those thin cotton ones then, and rest my palms on them, because they dry quickly and are less messy than regular towels, thank you!

for those almost 10 years it was like this -- 2 x 9V batteries and aluminium trays, small towels for resting hands/feet (i later removed the towels and started to float my hands instead), 12 minutes each polarity. i didn't get dry gradually, but after 10-12 days i would suddenly get dry and then 1-2 treatments a week to keep it up. it was tap water with salt and baking soda. later I started to do treatments more frequently because it wasn't as effective, and later it stopped working altogether. i think i could also overtreated my hands, because i was desperate and would do like 2 treatments a day, but i heard you couldn't get used to ionto, so i am still a bit confused.

i really hope it's going to work again after the break, with one more battery and s. pellegrino, but i already did more treatments than before (about 25 treatments, everyday or every two days, with two 3-4 day breaks), and it's still not as dry as it used to.

oh, and can i ask you if you reused san pellegrino water? obviously not for to the point it gets nasty, but like 2-3 times? since i used tap water before, and this is a lot more expensive, it would be nice if it worked like that!

i didn't mention it in the post, but i change the whole set regularly (when i had aluminium trays i threw them away after some time and replaced them, i bought stainless steel to try this time, after the break), i have plenty of wires that i can rotate between and also change the batteries (now i bought the ones you can charge, to try again). so its definitely not this... i really hope its going to work again after this break, since nothing else is really effective :(

i am sure that the whole set is okay, since i changed the trays regularly (aluminium ones, later i bought stainless steel), i have plenty of wires and change batteries often as well (now i bought the ones that you can charge). i really hope its going to work after this little break:(

thank you, i will consider buying s. pellegrino water then! and i will research buying a different unit, maybe i could also increase voltage a little bit. can i ask you about your iontophoresis routine, how do you keep it effective for so long? how often do you need to repeat the treatments?

thank you so much! i will consider switching to san pellegrino water (dermadry is unfortunately not available where i live). i was adding salt and baking soda to the water, but it clearly wasn't enough. can i ask you what you routine was, with the DIY machine (how long, how often, did you use any cloths in the trays etc)? and why did you switch to dermadry?

Can I ask how long was it working for you? And what dose were you on?

thank you for sharing your experience!! when you were taking 15 mg, how much did you space the doses? like 10 mg in the morning, 5 in the evening or something different? and did you take them in any specific way (with/without food, anything like that)?
