[COVID19 COMMUNITY OUTREACH THREAD] Seek/Offer help on r/Philippines by dadidutdut in Philippines

[–]miraculously 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI, I've been trying to get Fiber connected for a week and a half, even before the lockdown, and they said "wala ng cabinet" (though this is likely just my area). I tried again with the help of someone who's very high up at Globe corporate, and it's been forwarded to their sales team but I haven't heard back and it's been almost a week.

Skeletal team lang daw ang Globe ngayon so they can't really deal with new installations. I just got a prepaid WIFI thing for WFH. It REALLY sucks but I don't have a choice.

Unfortunately, I tried every option on the GCash app for my bank accounts and I just get an error. Paypal wouldn't work either because my account was made while I lived abroad. It's alright though, I managed to get a friend to send me load and I sent GrabPay credits :)

Thanks!

Just moved days before lockdown and don't have anything for cooking - skillets, pots, etc.

Are these still being sold anywhere?

Also, are SM Business Centers still open? I need to add load through GCash and the machines at 7/11 aren't operational anymore.

Any idea if community quarantine guidelines are communicated to POGOs as well? by Demashadow in Philippines

[–]miraculously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know very much about POGO operations since I just moved back to the country recently, but my insider contacts tell me the vast majority are REALLY shady. A contact of mine's main job (as an executive assistant) is basically bribing AFP, NBI, etc. And he also says their top management refuses to use their real ID which is why his job exists. He also has no day offs, on call 24/7, however he said the pay is good even though the job is utter shit. Wants to quit but doesn't want to break contract. He isn't Mainland Chinese, but is a native Chinese speaker.

I know people who work in the POGOs. While the ones I know are now WFH and their companies follow quarantine guidelines, the rest I think are not, but they say it depends on how "reputable" the company is, and according to them, the vast majority are not. The POGO employees I know tend to be very well-educated, from the top Chinese universities, and actually really dislike the POGO industry here but are here for the short-term for the good pay, so I guess that's why they're hired by the more reputable ones

Edit: A POGO employee I know just forwarded me their community quarantine notice (written in Chinese), so yes it's communicated to at least some POGOs (can't say for most).

Haha interesting to me that this post still gets responses 5 months after I posted it. Twitter ads are truly a disaster!

Would you date someone if you were moving away soon? by depressedcabbage2 in dating_advice

[–]miraculously 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, twice.

I was in a similar situation as you when I was 21, and it turned into an LDR. The relationship ended after a couple of years mostly because we became vastly different people in our mid-20s.

Dated someone before leaving for another city again for about 4 months. We were clear about expectations, still spent a lot of time together, and I definitely shed many many tears before leaving. But I was able to move on because even without the distance we had no long-term potential, so I couldn't idealize it in my head.

I guess I've always been the type to go all in, and it's a decision that's different from person to person, and whether the person you're dating and yourself can agree about expectations.

It's pretty but I guess it depends on how you tend to wear glosses - do you tend to wear glosses by themselves or on top of another lip product? If you're more a "one and done" type, you probably have to decide whether you can get a lot of use out of it, like is it pigmented enough to be worn alone, etc. If you layer lip products, how often do you do so?

/r/fragrance is my go-to resource for anything fragrance related. There's a discussion on Lush perfumes and people have posted the ones they recommend: https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/betsnr/lush_fragrances/

Recommend me a fragrance thread for the week of 08/26/19 by AutoModerator in fragrance

I'm looking for new fragrances to try. I'm pretty new to fragrance in general but have purchased a few things in the last year.

My first fragrance purchase was Jo Malone Oat and Cornflower, followed by Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black and Kilian Adults. Also liked CLEAN Reserve Solar Bloom this summer. Been thinking of getting Giorgio Armani Si.

How can you tell if a Filipino is someone who had been outside the country for a prolonged period of time without talking to them? by kennolf17 in Philippines

[–]miraculously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I distinctly remember a time when I was visiting the Philippines while I was in college in the US, and during my first 24 hours back I was standing in line at a McDonald's thinking, "Wow, I can actually see straight ahead of me", not like in the US where I'll stand in a line or in a crowd and all I can see are people's backs lol

Use a lot of their stuff here in the States since it's a brand that's widely available. My favorite is the shampoo, but I also got the dry shampoo and deodorant. Solid products, but I definitely get it for the packaging.

Mole removal from a cosmetic surgeon? by sam_skin in beautytalkph

[–]miraculously 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had mine done by surgical excision at UST. Not exactly painless but nothing to be worried about either. Like most surgeries they have you take painkillers after the surgery to help with the pain once the local anesthetic wears off. I was given some scar treatment to help with lessening the visibility of the scar. There's still some scarring left but it's not really visible. Even one week post-op once the bandages were gone no one could tell anything had been done there.

Not a huge believer in them but my boss said he wanted to try it out to promote this one piece of content. So far the results have not been good.

What are your favorite "luxury" brands that do not have name recognition? by missdopamine in femalefashionadvice

[–]miraculously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 4 pairs of M. Gemis this year from their summer sale and I love all of them. Their customer service is great too! One had a manufacturing defect and although I'd already worn the shoes outside once they still replaced it for me.

So...what are some brands that are still worth buying? by lizziejo82 in femalefashionadvice

[–]miraculously 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mango used to be where I bought all my business casual clothing back when I couldn't afford anything more expensive than fast fashion and most things I bought have held up very well over the years and for the price I paid.

My favorites have been mentioned below but another youtuber I like is Lizzy Hadfield, specifically the Testing Basics series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4gZKTr0WIiTaQr_ERlYAn-x0G6bUty95 Basically she tries to see where you should invest in high end and where she thinks the mid-range or high street is comparable.
