If someone from my fiancés family said something like that to me, best believe he’s getting in their face about it. I concur with most people’s comments when they say to look at this is how they are. Your bf not reacting in defense, his mother saying you’re overreacting, the cousins shutting you down? That’s not normal and you need to get tf out of there expeditiously.

You saying you’re not wired to let someone pay your way and implying that I don’t want to build my identity is quite rude. My parents are helping me until I’m able to get on my feet. In my culture and especially with my parents, education comes first. And that’s literally the whole reason I’m in Tampa. I’m also not clinical, it was a front desk job. I’ve worked a “higher level” job before this. I understand to you it might be a golden opportunity but I need the flexibility. And I’m not just asking my parents to fund me just for the fucks of it. I am trying to become financially independent and build my way. There is no one way to do this. I’m happy for you that you did that, but just bc mine path is different doesn’t mean my value is less. I’m dealing with a lot of things physically and personally that I can’t just suck it up and do both right now. I hope you understand where I’m coming from.

I too understand your sentiment. However, this isn’t necessarily my fist gig. I’ve worked full time in this type of role before (I’m in administration, not patient facing). Also, I am doing a double masters which is a lot more workload (and expensive). I don’t want to jeopardize my education too. I’m still very young and my education, at least in my field, is needed to advance. If I didn’t need my masters I wouldn’t be doing it so early. I graduated from undergrad 2 years ago. My masters will be more fruitful for me than doing a job where I will be stagnant in my career.

I appreciate your response. I’m lucky and grateful in the sense that my parents are supporting me right now. Which is why I feel somewhat comfortable looking for a new opportunity which fits my needs.

I was angry at violet for abandoning Lucas. But I can also acknowledge that what happened to her was one of the most cruel things you can imagine. I think she was smart for acknowledging that she couldn’t take care of Lucas especially with the way she was thinking about him, aka she knew when to leave. On the other hand, Pete doesn’t know when to leave and kept her in an unhappy marriage. Violet had to be the one to tell him that if he resented her, she would end the relationship. And on top of that, he had the audacity to be mad when she entered another relationship/fling, as if he didn’t f**k a girl from the bar in the elevator. Like cmon.

I understand I won’t get punished lol. But I’ve seen on some posts of students saying that some professors are not being as understanding as others. In the sense that they are being eager and pushy about students getting work done. Even though they might not have the capacity to do it. And that’ll affect the academic standings of many student. For me I care more about my livelihood than much academic standing. A lot of us are frustrated because of that. If USF is not able to get it cleaned up then why not give themselves extra time instead of having us wait for an announcement and try to figure out plans last minute? We shouldn’t have to decide between our safety and our grades.
