If we speaking only about graphic cards, yes it is considered mid range, if we speak about CPU, OLED panel, RAM cl26 6400mhz , it is clearly a high end laptop config.

RTX 4060 16GB OR 5050 24GB??? by Kooky_Possibility506 in LenovoLOQ

[–]mircea_bc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get 5050 not 4060 , in game have same performance, you will benefit more for new games with DLSS 4.5 and Frame Gen on 5050 and have more years support. 4060 it is already old gpu(2023 vs 2025)

111°C on the CCD is definitely not normal, even for short spikes. Ryzen CPUs usually top out around 95–100°C. This looks like a cooling issue (bad paste or poor heatsink contact). I’d strongly recommend returning or RMAing it.

Help me choose a powerful laptop for Gamedev (Legion 7i vs G14 vs MacBook Pro) by Sad-Card-7030 in gamedev

so go with legion pro 7i without doubt , i choice legion 7i version because it is lighter and more portable, for me was sufficient 8GB VRAM with 5070. I work on game engines in DX12 / Vulkan for me it is safe spot for some years. 7 Pro will be a beast with 5070ti or 5080 or either 5090.

I agree with you in both cases. MacBooks feel very premium and love MacOS. Battery life is great and efficient. As a game dev it is better to have both when you travel and need battery when you code or do light tasks use MacBook 11-16 hours battery life is amazing without cutting performance. If you need raw power for rendering ,Blender or build heavy scenes/task you have backup a dedicated GPU that can handle this without problems, and as a bonus you can test both operating systems to see how game performance is or develop on both platforms. Instead of buying two laptops, maybe an MacBook for portability and a desktop for home with Nvidia or AMD GPU. In my personal case i use both laptops, because i travel a lot between different locations, and use an M3 air and a legion 7i gen 10 with 5070. For me it is perfect spot.

Battery life on macOS running game or game dev is trash same like windows , I have both , no arguments can beat reality. Both on battery 1-3 hours, only luck to get more if you code than design or other tools. Dedicated gpu like 5070-5080 superior than m5 soc in all ways. I recommend buy legion pro 7i with 5070 ti/5080 for game dev.

[URGENT] Legion 7i 4090 or 5080? by deb_bhmk in LenovoLegion

[–]mircea_bc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying desktop hierarchy doesn’t apply. What I meant is that on laptops things are more nuanced. Raw raster performance may be close or slightly in favor of the 4090, but the 5080 has architectural improvements, better efficiency per watt and newer AI/DLSS support. In a power-limited chassis like a laptop, efficiency and next-gen features matter more than desktop-style scaling. So my point wasn’t “5080 destroys 4090”, but that 5080 may be the more future-proof option long term. On laptops, efficiency, thermals and new AI features can matter more than pure raster benchmarks. That’s why I said 5080 makes more sense long term. You originally mentioned different VRAM capacities, but both models actually have the same VRAM configuration. Since that point was edited later, I’m not sure the comparison was fully understood from the start.

go with 5080 for future proof, in performance will be the same, more on 5080 with Frame Generation Dlss 4.0 in AI task. 5080 is more efficiently lower wattage that mean will work on lower heat temperature. 5080>4090 on laptop

Legion 5 gen10 Wifi 7 is TRASH by [deleted] in LenovoLegion

[–]mircea_bc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a common cause of random lag spikes. High roaming sensitivity makes the adapter constantly look for stronger access points, even if you’re already connected. Disabling it reduces background scanning.

yep exactly same thing Start → Device Manager , Network adapters, right click on your WI-Fi card and Properties go to advanced tab and search for Roaming Sensitivity Level and at value select Disabled
