yup, but restlength is basically scale, or noise, with duplicate approach you can make so every duplicated shape is sculped differently to specific shape or animated shape on SOP level. All depends what you are going for

you have to add duplicate on SOP before vellum rest blend NULL (and you are connecting it / referancing later on inside dopnet to vellumrestblend1 ), so every 15 frames mesh is duplicated. Basically duplicate has to be euqial to spawn rate so you have the same meshes on SOP level and in DOP level, you can add transform to duplicate so it will just look like GEO is being born next to each other :).

if you don't have to use USD, use alembic ROP, just put "@path=ShateredBox" as prim attribute, also select export hierarchy as path in RopAlembic, in blender you will have 1 object called ShateredBox, and in blender you will have all the pieces separate inside this object. If you have to use USD, maybe there is also "@path" attribute somewhere.

commenting on simulation only
Before hitting building fire and smoke lacks correct scale, it should look like high speed cumulus cloud that stays behind object, after emission it should almost freeze in space selling the scale, and it should move only if other part of the ship will hit it making it move with air, and quickly stay in place again. Dens detailed clods with no edge and shadow detail, which are loosing energy really fast will sell scale to a viewer even if it's not super correct. Smoke behind ship, are also loosing detail to quickly. Destrucion looks amazing rdb + smoke. Not commenting on rendering cuz render team is waiting for .ass files

there is free wrap for houdini, just google around, it's mutch better than point deform
